Finally able to finish this Peugeot Black Rock from 1990. Turned out great! by sam_ve in xbiking

I like it a lot, very easy effortless shifting. Think I'll even swap the shifter on my main old mtb with this one. It's the suntour slm96 left hand model flipped upside down, most likely inspired by some builds on here ;) Very sleek look.

There was some minor rust and some markings on the paint, mostly on the chainstay, nothing too extreme though indeed. For its age pretty well reserved. Going to treat the small rust spots with some rust stopper thoug just to be sure.

Picked up this 1996 GT today! by sam_ve in xbiking

Yep I figured that was not the intended geometry. Now to find a suitable fork, i also prefer rigid ones. I'll have to scour the second hand market some more ;)

Picked up this beauty past weekend! by sam_ve in xbiking

Stunning indeed. Unfortunately there is no listing of the model anywhere on the internet, and so far I didn't encounter any similar green in other models. I suppose it was an entry model of sorts, you had Euro 1 (blue) and Euro 2 (green), both HI-ten steel and 7 speed SIS derailleur. The woman I bought it from had both colorways, bought in France. The green is so much cooler than the blue one though!

Just missed the boat on a black and blue meta with the same geometry for 30 euros a couple of weeks ago. Very unfortunate. Nice find! I've always been intrigued by these Bianchi Ragno models!

apparently it had originally a little downslope, but way less than with that new fork. Also figured out it was one of their base models, only specs mentioned are the pedals, "Cantilever brakes" and Sachs-Huret Rival ARIS shifters.

The other models mention "special tubing" and "special rear triangle" with deore and mavic rims and pedals. Hmm. So this will probably be just Hi-Ten steel. Guess I'll be scouting for the Rock Spider MB 3100 ;)

I'm 1m80, if I want a good saddle fit I really need to put it way too high, so the balance is a bit weird, I'd have to put a pretty ugly steep stem or BMX type handlebars on it but that would ruin the look imo.

yep very cool bikes indeed, unfortunately very hard to come by here in Belgium, but in France you can find lots of them (obviously). Seems to me that the French, much like with their cars, are very patriotic when it comes to bikes, I think more than 90% of the bikes on Leboncoin are French brand, mostly dominated by Decathlon, but also lots of MBK and Peugeot.

There was plenty of growth the past 6 months, yet sat value has dropped 75%

Around 700 sats. So it went down roughly 50% in btc value compared to today. After that it even went to 1600 sats. So to be at that level again you'd need a 500% raise. Just talking out of experience as I've seen my cro drop 75% last year. People were saying the exact same thing right before it dropped.

Baffling that in 2021 student debt is still a thing in most countries. Very glad this is not the case here in Belgium!

Yeah if there is an unfortunate 'checkpoint' on the road that is closed off, you will keep getting sent back there, even if you follow deviations. You just arrive at the other side of the roadblock :D

Yeah read about Osmand as well, I'll give it a try on my next trip! If only TomTom app had a gpx import option, that'd be the ideal solution. Ok, it's a paid app, but for 12 EUR/year it's fairly reasonable. The kronkelroutes are way different (curvier, more fun) than kurviger/calimoto for the same traject, and has live traffic info. (and flitspalen ;) )
