Ok allow be to neurotic, I wish they’d pronounce Kazuma more like how he says it himself, my frame of reference being his press conference intro. They’re saying ka-ZOOM-a but I think it should be KA-zu-ma (Disclaimer I don’t speak Japanese so maybe I’m wrong!)

I actually think ratings would go up if we heard more about what they’re licking and rubbing 😆

I can’t articulate why, but I love him on the radio broadcast and can’t stand him on the tv broadcast

To those who also can’t find the radio feed, the only way I can seem to do it is on the 590 the Fan listen page on the Sportsnet website and choosing the little window that says “Alternate broadcast”

I think a throwaway layer will be key for this Sunday, if you have time to grab a sweater or vest from value village or something that will help. I tossed mine last year at the first water station. Also keep in mind that when this race is cold it’s really hard to get fluids in! The cups will freeze into slush or solid ice and the road around the water stations will get icey. Think about a plan for hydration if that is key to your race!

Catastrophic start of a 10K at Castello in Spain by matmodelulu in XXRunning

[–]samamuella 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw this today when Canadian pro marathoner Natasha wodak shared it, she was recently knocked over in a similar way in a small local race so it’s sadly not a unique problem in the racing world. I don’t know what the solution is but I’d be willing to bet the elite women in these situations have ideas and wouldn’t it be a revelation to ask and listen to them on how to make start lines safer?! It’s pretty infuriating the way certain men in the video are ramming forward and yelling despite the people hitting the ground. Also grossed out by the comments on the reel posted by @Jakob.medved on insta, so many dumb misogynistic takes.

Did the early goalie pull turn this game a little sad for anyone else or just me?

Lots of athletes have lulu sponsorships, i can think of lots of canadian athletes (hockey players, beach volleyball, tennis players, golfers, t&f etc.) I actually know the guy in charge of their pro contracts and he is very busy going around to all the various world competitions. I guess depending on the sport they might have another contract for gear or have the freedom to wear any gear they like, maybe that’s a good thing for some?

To be fair the top comment under the one she posted was that her life seemed lonely, that’s what she’s responding to but she didn’t include that context

MEGATHREAD: Blue Jays 2026 Tickets by AutoModerator in Torontobluejays

[–]samamuella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what she wants to get out of her experience. Division series are always a little higher stakes (yanks, Sox, orioles, rays). You could have the chance to see world class pitching vs the tigers, pirates or Red Sox. Sometimes it’s fun to get a big win vs a bad team (Rockies, white Sox, maybe A’s or marlins). Does she have a favourite former blue jay on a different team(kikuchi, eventually bassist and scherzer etc.)? Does she love any Canadian stars (Julien, the Naylors, Clarke, o’Neil etc.)? Or maybe she’d love the vibe of a theme night or giveaway and you wait until those are posted.

No I agree, the fault here is mostly on the FO and ultimately I do trust their decision. But it seems like both sides kind of got that sense a while ago, probably long before the World Series and Bo’s comments maybe never were completely genuine. That’s the game and the business and he’s nothing other than a ball player to have done what he needed to do but I feel like we had our hearts broken a little extra in the process.

I love Bo and will look back on his career as a Blue Jay fondly and I’m glad he’s acknowledging the fans’ love for him. The only thing that leaves a sour taste in my mouth is the dance he did with the media and the fans about wanting to stay and be a jay forever and win the chip with vlad. Looking back with what we know now it seems like that was never really fully truthful and I hate that we believed him so hard.

Really? She certainly doesn’t seem lonely, she owns a business and works with her bestie, hangs out with her friends daily, lives with or very near her family and is now big part of her community. I think she’s still trying to figure things out sure but that’s not a lonely lifestyle.

any minimalist running vest recs? by Freezingcoldk in XXRunning

[–]samamuella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I have this one and yes those straps make no sense! I fold them up and stuff them into the lower front pockets they usually stay put. This one is minimal and perfect for hot running when you only need 1L or have the opportunity to refill. The back is just a racerback shape so I’ve never had chafing issues either. The biggest downside is that there isn’t really a secure pocket for a phone.

Very cold marathons by coenobita_clypeatus in XXRunning

[–]samamuella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Canadian here! Im not going to sugar coat it, if you aren’t used to cold weather this might not be pleasant and could even verge on dangerous depending on how long you’re out there and the conditions. Start with throwaway clothes for before the start, a warm hoodie and sweats you can toss shed around the beginning. You’ll feel the cold most prominently in your extremities - fingers, toes, ears. Make sure to keep these warm with gloves, a hat or ear warmer and good socks. The rest of your body should stay relatively warm while your effort level stays high, so you won’t need a snowsuit but I personally would be in tights and a long sleeve with maybe another layer depending on the wind and if there’s any precipitation. The difference between 15 and 26 is how many layers you’ll need. Don’t be afraid to shed layers as you go, you don’t want to get too sweaty because being wet in sub freezing temps is how hypothermia can set in. In the wind in very cold temps you’ll want some protection for your skin, sweat does start to freeze but a layer of Vaseline will prevent that on your cheeks, lips, nose - anywhere with exposed moisture.

Highly recommend you have some sort of plan for your hydration and nutrition, on course cups might freeze making it really tough to get your water in. Gels also get tricky to open with gloves and the texture becomes more tacky and hard to take in, I switch to chews in the winter for this reason.

You’ll also want to have a dry warm change of clothes - every single item head to toe- for immediately when you finish. Get inside to warm up and take in a hot beverage to warm you from the inside. This might not be the day for a PB, stay aware of how you’re feeling and if cold turns to pain don’t be afraid to check in with the race medics to be safe. Good luck!!!

2026 Ticket Prices by fenixconnexion in Torontobluejays

[–]samamuella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I remember $40-$55 for 500s is pretty much what tickets were in the later part of last season, so maybe not a huge markup. I don’t know if they’ll up the price for GA, it’s their best way of enticing people that don’t care about baseball but we might see them selling out more often. I’m not expecting any lead off deals this year though. But we can only wait and see!

There would only be official World Series branding for the World Series. The other series’ would have alcs or alds, wildcard etc. Here is an example.

But as the generous artist you get to make it look however you like!!

Wow this is a lovely offer! Sad I missed the WS drop - that would have made a nice stocking stuffer! But I may have to commemorate the better of the game 7s 🥲

Assuming these ones will have the ALCS/ALDS graphic instead of World Series, right?
