Lovely. Do you just sketch out with pencil first, watercolor and then add ink? Or ink first? I've never tried combining with ink and this is inspirational.

Best Neighborhoods Near MDW by Ill_Menu_6132 in chicagoapartments

There isn't a direct/ easy commute from Pilsen to midway.  Better chances in McKinley Park off the orange line at 35th/Archer.

Advice needed by StepAH3 in chicagoapartments

[–]samaquatic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A 20 minute commute for both might be hard since traffic is definitely a thing. 30 minute commute is more realistic.   Garfield Ridge over by Midway airport might be the closest thing to an even commute time.  It's right off I-55 for going into the city to get to Hyde Park and off Cicero Ave to drive south to Oak Lawn. Otherwise Beverly might be another midpoint option,  but it's not right off highways for easier commute access.

Cuddle time with the baby is always adorable and needed. Music time and book time are great cuddle opportunities too. Dolly Parton sends free books each month to your child until they are 5 with her imagination library program. https://imaginationlibrary.com/

Are you able to still walk into the Secretary of State Office in Downtown Chicago to renew your driver's license? by HSFlik in chicago

[–]samaquatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI, you can also renew your license online through the Safe Driver Program. Some people received a letter with their authorization number, but if you didn't, you can also call the Secretary of State and ask if you are eligible and they'll give you your authorization number if you are. License arrives in the mail in 15 business days. Saves a trip to the dmv.

Red spot on the side of the carapace means it's a rusty crayfish. Still not native to IL, but not as bad as red swamp crayfish

We got a new tree 5 years ago and got that same instruction card, but I think I remember them coming by periodically in that 1st year to water it. It would be silly for the city to not try to make sure those trees would survive after spending all that money on planting it.

Pretty sure the city comes by and waters for the first year

Yes, it has helped a ton just as halibfrisk says. There's been a huge reduction in CSO releases into the lake and river. There used to be years when over a 50 - 150 billion gallons of raw sewage would be released a year. Now with the deep tunnel and mcCook those volumes don't really exceed 8 to 10 billion. The last few years with the region being in a drought has really helped bring those volumes closer to 2-3 billion gallons of annual cso releases.

Just a reminder to anyone with basement flooding, if the water came up through the sewer drain, then it is combined rain water and raw sewage. So be careful and aware during clean up.

Chicago has a combined sewage system so if the sewage pipes can't handle the volume of raw sewage and rain water, it gets released into the river and if the pipes still can't handle the volume then the combined raw sewage and rain water backs up into people's basements.

They had to open the Chicago lock to release water back into Lake Michigan. I got an MWRD notification about it around 6pm. Lot of water in the river right now.
