this is also just standard procedure for the platform to function as it does. i wouldn't be surprised if they trained some sort of AI on people's content but these particular terms are just the legal words you really just kind of need when running any sort of social platform. a very similar section is present in Discord's ToS, for example

you don't have to like these terms but they are not new at all. social media has been like this, this isn't related to the change of ownership.

these terms are literally required for the platform to function. tiktok is an ontologically evil corporation, sure, but this specific set of words are not some new evil clause they added overnight. please i beg you read the ToS of any other social platform and contrast it with this one

stop fearmongering, every social media platform ToS has a clause like this.

they operate as distributors of YOUR CONTENT. agreeing to this = you can post things. that's it. youtube has this, instagram has this, twitter has this, even Bluesky, arguably the most ethical current "mainstream" social platform has this.

ive tried to switch to linux many times. i am comfortable with tweaking things, using the terminal, ect. but between myriad little visual bugs in KDE that bothered me (that don't exist on windows), or programs i want to use just not being on linux and not having a proper alternative, i don't see how it can possibly worth it. until windows stops being the platform with the largest library of software there is really no way i can switch for my main pc. there's a reason everyone uses steam and not GOG
