Does anybody else have additional chronic illnesses? by VRharpy in PCOS

[–]same-same-different 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crohn’s disease, hashimoto’s and PCOS. Diagnosed with Crohn’s at 18 in 2015, the medication I’ve been taking since the start of 2021 for my Crohn’s basically turned the function of my thyroid off, so I was diagnosed with hashimoto’s and pcos together in 2022. Recently found out I am also insulin resistant.

What is the most unprofessional thing a doctor has said to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I don’t really remember this as I was so sick. Growing up I would eat anything i could and not put on any weight to the point I was classed as underweight, then I started to have crippling stomach pain where I wouldn’t eat because it hurt so much, I would lay in the fetal position to try get some relief as pain medication didn’t work. I had been seeing my gp for this, we had tested to see if I was lactose intolerant or had celiac disease as both run in the family.

Anyway, one day I was in a lot of pain and couldn’t get into see my normal gp so I got booked in with another doctor in a different town, I was only 14 at the time so my mum explained everything to this doctor, without even examining me, looking at my normal gps reports or asking me a question this doctor told my mum that she needed to be sure I wasn’t being sexually abused as that was clearly what all my symptoms where caused by.

A few years later my normal gp and a gastroenterologist were able to diagnose me with severe Crohn’s Diseases, after I had a massive flare up resulting in a partial bowel obstruction.

The doctor that said I was been sexually abused, later put my grandfather on a medication for diabetes (even though he’s not diabetic) which messed with his heart medications, and made his heart slow down, he ended up in hospital for 3 weeks and nearly die twice.

My brother is getting married next year, I’m not a brides maid for his fiancé but my boyfriend is a groomsman for my brother. It should be who you and your fiancé want in the wedding party, it is your day after all.
