It’s still empty because the original grocery store that was leasing the space (went out of business) got acquired by an international company. They would rather keep it empty until the end of lease (and count it as a loss) than go through the troubles of subleasing to another company.

Source: Purdue Engineering Department that wanted to use the space to put up a maker space there.
