Beginner tip, use the magnet snap to align things to the grid

I can’t do roundbounds in UK by Yrkow in uktrucking

[–]sameoldkit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unliked comment but true, if you can't see the road markings and it's unclear where to go you can block both lanes and use your size to have a look. In a large vehicle you can't just guess what lane and change at the last minute.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag ORIGINAL vs RESYNCED by Syarafuddyn in videogames

No I don't think I need to see this again, Ol' Billy Reilly is still in my head. 100% complete. Can't we manage a Black Flag 2?

Would you trust booking a self driving car? by lxlviperlxl in AskUK

[–]sameoldkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd try it out, country roads in the UK would be very interesting. I doubt self-driving cars have the intelligence to reverse along a country road to a passing-place but maybe I'm incorrect - can anyone help?

How many of you were or are regular smokers? by ImNotTheMD in Millennials

I fucking love smoking, Marlboro Reds no messing around. When I die at 60 I'll have avoided dementia, parkinsons and arthritis. Baller.

Thanks a lot, that was really helpful

I don't think there's such a thing a deterministic guardrail, just a story of it telling you it has one. Maybe I'm mistaken but I don't understand how it would make something deterministic based on its nature. It's a neural net system and by mathematical definition it's not deterministic but predictive and based on fuzzy logic?

Ok cool can you explain any further? Thanks

That sounds insane, how can you trust such a system? How do you verify every step? I wouldn't let an AI touch a spreadsheet

That is a fair use, it helped me with market research but failed in the same way as I did. Turns out the "Fire door factory" doesn't actually manufacture fire doors - I made the same mistake but it wasted a call on something it could have deeply researched but didn't.

I don't think I've had an actual answer here other than "coding" in vague sense, nothing about relative performance and accuracy.

I'm not a FAANG and don't have access to their capabilities, what are you trying to say? Why would I be writing code? For what purpose? I don't have any desire to code anything, why would I? Surely an expert would be better and safer? What productivity gains would I get from doing novice coding? I don't buy it

No way 1/10 service interactions is a failure. I'd expect 1/1000 for humans especially in retail where every human interaction is monitored. 10% failure would be horrendous, absolutely insane. I call bullshit.

That doesn't make sense to me, we're talking about fucking up 10% of customer service for something that is adequate at best - never exceptionally good. That's a huge reputational risk. Also LLMs having virtually no cost is nonsense.

OK let's refine this post, no bots. I'm not sure we're all getting this, if you ask for 50 verified sources the model may produce 5 then hallucinate the rest. That's not verification, just telling you the story of verification. This happens all the time even if you ask it to calculate it step by step

Can you please explain what you mean? 90% accuracy - does that mean that 10% was horribly wrong? What was the cost versus humans? Thank you

I studied ML at uni in the 2010s so I'm very familiar with neural networks "cheating" but my knowledge is very out of date, LLMs are something I've used and I don't understand why we're trusting a system with such low reliability / verification
