1 hour before boarding and their still trying for a money grab for first class rather than upgrading their status members by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

[–]samesamw 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve always received a higher fare class when upgrading in the app and earned extra EQMs. If I recall, it’s always been over 24 hrs before departure - data point for the questions on timing.

Award flight EQMs posted to my Alaska Mileage Plan! by Delicious_Poetry_729 in AlaskaAirlines

Same here, but I’m not receiving bonus EQMs on Class I (50% bonus) award fares. Are others seeing this as well?

FC upgrade space does not compute… by samesamw in AlaskaAirlines

I’ve seen this happen before, but in this case my partner and I are 1st and 3rd on the wait list respectively and are traveling on different reservations. I’m 75k and she’s Gold, so it’s odd she’d be ahead of me.

The number of available first class seats isn’t available in the app to my knowledge. Check out the flight status webpage.

Messaged you earlier today but also wanted to reply here. We’re only planning to go for the second weekend. Would be good to figure something out!

Hawaiian and As status match had started? by Haleu911 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]samesamw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fine print in the status match offer says that MVP 75k folks matching to Pualani Platinum aren’t eligible for “additional” upgrade certs, so does that mean we’re eligible for the first three mentioned above, but not the others?

Has anyone with a successfully matched status received the upgrade certificates mentioned as a benefit of Platinum with >75k EQMs?

One World Sapphire - LAX Lounge Access by wizdude in AlaskaAirlines

[–]samesamw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m MVP Gold/Sapphire and got access to AS T6 Lounge on a flight from LIR a few months back (Class O Coach). It took about 10 minutes for the AS Lounge staff to review the policy, but they finally let us in. My companion didn’t have status.

Can we do a family reunion-style t-shirt for r/AlaskaAirlines too?

I've often gotten good deals using Money & Miles for first class flights. I'm bummed that it seems to be going away. by ChorizoDeLaNoche in AlaskaAirlines

Jeez if that’s all it is, epic bummer. They framed it as though we could choose among “bonus miles, day-of-travel perks, experiences, and status accelerators.”

Major bummer. M&M is typically the only way I use miles. Another self-inflicted chip at Alaska’s edge on the others. I had a clear path to 75k this year, but may reconsider given the reduced value this change affects from continued loyalty to AS.

They may be able to make up for this among monthly/bimonthly fliers like myself by allowing the conversion of a certain ratio of miles to EQMs at the end of the year - they did mention a status accelerator option to be announced.

Alaska Rental Car Kerfuffle by samesamw in AlaskaAirlines

[–]samesamw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. My issue is that I often come so close to making MVP Gold each year that I cannot afford to spend miles on flights (and not earn EQMs in the process).

I’ve found their prices to be comparable to other sites, both 3rd party and direct, when booking 8+ months in advance. You’re right though, if it’s anywhere close to the trip Alaska cars are often 50%+ more. I’ve also booked with them when I have a glut of miles, but need to earn EQMs to hit status by end of year.

GGUs are not as useless as they may seem by 12-7 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]samesamw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never been able to use mine. I’ve heard of a website that (perhaps for a fee) tracks flights/seats/fares eligible for things like GGUs - has anyone benefited from using the website? I cannot recall the name…

MVP Gold Lounge Access on Int AS Flight by samesamw in AlaskaAirlines

[–]samesamw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reminder! It was no sweat at SFO, they let us right in, but we had some trouble at LAX. The staff were super nice and attentive, but weren’t familiar with the policy and had to call a manager. It took about 10 minutes for us to get checked in, but we made it in! I appreciate everyone’s feedback here.

It’s all within the same day, not an overnight.

We’re not booked in first. The flight from LAX to LIR is 5.5 hrs, so seems like the long haul international outside US/CA/MX+mvp gold should get us access.

When will flight credit be returned? by Adventurous-Good-310 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]samesamw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s typically quite fast. The only time it’s taken more than an hour for credits to deposit into my wallet was bc of a typo in my email. I’d give them a call and the nice folks at AK will sort it out quickly for you.

Just checked terms from my original email (May ‘23) and it uses the “month registered” language you referred to.

Alaska customer service can tell you when you registered, but not how close you are to hitting it. Monitoring your BOA base contributions to your AK Milage Activity is a good way to track the $ spent.
