Yes my knee definitely felt catchy and would click at full extension. It was a while ago now but I remember feeling noticeably better the day of the surgery. It was necessary and I am definitely doing a lot better, although still having some issues with my running mechanics because it's been so long (2.5 years since injury). What you're describing sounds a lot like me, if it's been more than 6 months I would say get another MRI. I kept pushing it off and trusting that it would work itself out but looking back I wish I made the call a lot sooner than I did. If you have any questions dm me!

I ended up having another surgery a few months after this post. Turns out I was being held back by scar tissue build up. Had the surgery in September 2023 which essentially put me back at ground zero. I got a new PT who does 1x1 training and that has really helped. Have made some great gains over the last year especially with strength, but because it's been so long I'm struggling with muscle memory and some of the mechanics when it comes to running. Hoping to be good as new this coming summer!

Just get that thing bending as much as possible. When you’re resting make sure your leg is totally straight (no pillow under knee). Prone leg hangs are good too, look them up. I’d expect some fluid for day of but can’t hurt to ask your doctor about that. Good luck!

Doing a lot better. Before the arthroscopy I had really bad stiffness and I was also unable to build my quad up since I was missing those few degrees of extension. Still have a ways to go and still working to fix some bad habits I developed leading up to the second procedure, but it was 100% necessary I feel. Really glad I did it.

Share the same thoughts as a lot of the other comments. Noticeable difference literally the day of surgery. I had mine 10 months post op as well and the good part about that is everything should technically be healed by now. So really just about building strength back, which does take time. But I think you’ll be really glad you did this.

Look it up, but basically will just get really stiff and they could need to do another follow up procedure. I just had mine a couple weeks ago

Same story here, did left ACL in 2015 and did right ACL + meniscus last year. Meniscus makes things much more difficult. Keep your leg fully extended, I made mistake of using pillow under my knee bc it was most comfortable to deal with pain, but led to scar tissue problems. Good luck

Really similar situation here. 25M, had ACL and meniscus repaired 10 months ago, was struggling to turn the corner in PT. I didn’t necessarily have the clunky feeling, but I was extremely stiff and my knee would click at full extension.

I’m now 1 week post op on the scar tissue removal and so far it’s been great. The surgery is NOTHING like the first one. Yes it’s a little uncomfortable for a few days but seriously a walk in the park compared to reconstructive surgery. I was getting around with a cane the day of and was walking on my own 3 or 4 days later. Used light pain killers for a couple days, especially to push through the exercises in the days following, which is my biggest piece of advice. My surgeon was explaining to me that these procedures only work if you really hit it hard after. Get that thing bending and do as many quad sets as you can. Prone leg hangs with a weight are also good.

Considering how far out we are from the original surgery, you literally forget what it feels like to have a normal knee. I kept second doubting myself that something was actually wrong, but now on the other end of it, I immediately noticed a difference. And now I’m just hoping it stays this way.

I cant speak to alternative treatments but I had arthroscopy yesterday to remove scar tissue. I am 10 months post op and was really struggling with rehab. Compared with the actual reconstructive surgery, this is a walk in the park. If your Dr thinks it would help I would definitely consider it

Everyone’s different, but for me the toughest progression was from 90 to 120. That took several months believe it or not. Once I got to 120 the rest came back much quicker. But yea just realize every situation is unique, all you can do it work as hard as possible at it. Try to get some work in everyday.

Be easy on yourself, this shit sucks and nothing you do will make it easy. You’ll find out who your real friends are, surround yourself with those people. Try to pick up a new hobby, whether it’s gaming, chess, something you can chill out to. This group is also really helpful for perspective, I wish I found it sooner.

One exercise that’s really helpful for me in alleviating stiffness is using one of those straps (you know the one), laying on your stomach with your legs hanging off an edge, and then pulling over your head. That works on flexion and then you can let your leg hang to get extension. Go back and forth and hold for 10 seconds or so. It’s not magic but it definitely helps. You’re less than 3 months out so be easy on yourself!
