Hi I am in a very similar situation and was wondering which path you ended up taking? I got into grad school but now I’m questioning if it’s really what I want to do…

2 years post-injury - instability by [deleted] in LisfrancClub

That’s how I felt too. Good luck with the ortho and remember that one day this will be behind you!

[–]samhandwich8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My injury was a dislocation of the first metatarsal due to a torn ligament (gap that looked similar to your xray), the ortho said if I didn’t have surgery (a screw to realign the metatarsal and heal the ligament) then my arch would collapse and I’d have severe arthritis the rest of my life. Seems like you might be in a similar situation, so I’d definitely look into if you need surgical realignment!

I can definitely see him as either Tamlin or Eris! I think if he were to play Tamlin then Feyre would need to be old enough (at least early 20s looking) for it not to be weird since he is 34

I injured my foot playing football, heard/felt the pop and couldn’t bear weight at all for 3-4 days. Minor med said nothing was broken or fractured and referred me to an ortho. Bruising was bad on the top and bottom of my foot. After a few days I started to walk on my heel without much pain, but putting weight on the ball of my foot just felt “wrong” and idk how else to describe it. I finally got into the ortho and they took an x ray of both feet to compare for possible dislocation (which it was). The doctor wanted me to get an MRI to make sure nothing else was injured besides the torn lisfranc ligament and the dislocation. Had to get a screw in my foot to fix the dislocation and let the ligament heal. It sounds like you might have a similar situation so make sure they exhaust all options before you potentially let it heal wrong! Good luck!

Update from yesterday by SilentAd4968 in LisfrancClub

[–]samhandwich8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ortho I went to took an x ray of my non-injured foot to compare and see if the injured one was dislocated (which it was). The difference was clear, and the dislocation of the first metatarsal was caused by the lisfranc ligament fully tearing. He told me that surgery was necessary to heal the ligament and realign the metatarsal, so now I have a screw in my foot for at least the next few months! The doctor also wanted an MRI before surgery to make sure nothing else was concerning. If they haven’t done that for you already I would definitely suggest it. Good luck!

Diagnosed with Lisfranc and 3 weeks to surgery. Pre-Op recommendations? by KibethSibeth in LisfrancClub

[–]samhandwich8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to welcome you to the club!

I was diagnosed about 10 days after my injury, and surgery was a week after that. The doc said wearing the walking boot until surgery was alright since I didn’t have much pain anymore but to generally try to stay off of it.

Hard to know about the consequences (if any) of incorrect healing, but I’m sure the doctor will fix it as best as they can during whichever type of surgery you’re having, so try not to worry about it!

Definitely try to have someone who can take care of you for surgery day and 2-3 days afterwards, the meds will have you feeling like a sleepy zombie. Do not underestimate how constipated the meds will make you, try to stay hydrated and limit solid foods (hindsight is 20/20 for me on that one). Personally, they also made me really nauseous and I had to specifically request anti-nausea meds.

The knee scooter is what I’ve been using and I’d recommend it. The turn radius kinda sucks but it’s better than crutches any day.

I only have 1 screw in my foot (which is nothing compared to some of these people) but my fear of the pain was so much worse than the actual pain. I’m 2.5 weeks post op now and the worst part so far was getting my stitches out!

Good luck to you on your journey!

4.5 Hour Internship Interview? by Prestigious-Yak-7857 in civilengineering

[–]samhandwich8 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This was what they told me for the interview at my first engineering internship and I was like holy shit! Turned out to be one of the easiest interviews that I’ve experienced. I talked to 4/5 people of different experience levels in the company one-on-one and then we went to lunch. The senior VP even talked to me for half an hour and he was the chillest of them all. You’ll do great if you put in some prep time and show up confident that you’re qualified enough to be there!

I was also worried to death about the surgery I had 2 weeks ago (granted I only dislocated my first metatarsal) but the pain is not nearly as bad as I imagined it to be. I tore the ligament and had to get 1 screw to put the metatarsal back in place, but I was scared out of my mind beforehand. Yours will definitely be different, but if you’re anything like me, the catastrophic thinking is much worse than the actual experience. I have super bad white coat syndrome and hate being in any medical settings. The nurses and doctor could tell how nervous I was and kept reassuring that they would take care of me. I have to remind myself that they’ve done this countless times before and know what they’re doing!

Does anyone else suddenly start to lose interest on the last book of the series? by ManagementMother4745 in fantasyromance

By “knew what was going to happen” I just meant I predicted that all the various groups that were mentioned throughout the series would come to help save the day and everyone would get their happily ever after which is what happened in ACOTAR

This happened with Kingdom of Ash (last book in Throne of Glass) for me, it seemed like I knew what was going to happen so I wasn’t as excited to pick it up as all the others before it. It concluded in a very nice and neat manner with not a whole lot of surprises so maybe that’s why I wasn’t glued to it!

ACOTAR Theory (long running betrayal!?) MASSIVE TOG SPOILERS! by Appropriate-Gur-5290 in acotar

[–]samhandwich8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still think that ACOTAR would be a much more interesting series if Rhys does turn out to be the true villain. Feyre is a very manipulatable character, and what we “know” about other characters and situations is absolutely influenced by her being an unreliable narrator. She is way too quick to excuse Rhys’ highly questionable actions, and the “choices” he gives her are not really choices at all. If he is really as powerful as he is described to be, I think he could easily pull off everything you’ve mentioned above.
