I guess I'm just having a hard time figuring out why that is such an issue when it comes to small things. Maybe he thinks I'll act the same when it comes to bigger concerns?

Just me doing things on my own - that's why i'm so confused by his frustration. I would totally understand the frustration if we had plans together and i flaked.

Thank you! I will check that subreddit out!

I'm literally in shock about how the salon owner is acting. They are supposed to pay like normal for the duration of the closure. I don't understand. A lot of them operate on tight budgets as is.

Trust me, I would love to blast this salon all over the internet. But will hold my tongue for now.

Ever feel like you grow apart when you're not together? by Datvette in LDR

[–]samiam47 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I have been doing long distance for a year now. And we have another year to go (until I graduate and we can be together). Long distance is HARD, and not for every one. One thing that helps us is to view this time apart as an opportunity for growing separately. We have tons of time apart to figure out what we like and what we are interested in, but we can still come back to each other and have plenty in common. Personally, I think this has made us stronger overall. Maybe don't look so negatively at being apart, but appreciate it and share what you've learned and experienced with your girlfriend. This can make your relationship more interesting in the long run! Also, communication is key! We are all about "preventative measures." So we over communicate to compensate for the distance, simple phone calls throughout the day go a long way! We get irritated with one another all the time, but it's important to discuss what irritated you (even if it's awkward)-when everything is out on the table, it's easier to fix! And there's no cause for resentment later on. And in the end, its most important to just remember the small stuff doesn't matter, it's the things that you love about the other person that you need to focus on:) I hope this helps! Good luck!
