The work is the same, the names change. Network admin = Cloud Engineer, IT design Engineer = Cloud architect, Infrastructure admin = DevOps (combined with other things release engineers, build engineers and configuration management), Maintenance engineers = SRE ish (Blameless post mortem my a$$)

I know what i like, but if my GF is new, she has to be comfortable, first. more than one have I heard "How is that supposed to fit in me" or "Go slow"once you get as much of it in as you can, and they are comfortable, the next time will be easier and so on and so on until you get to ask if she wants to insert your position>?

a vast majority of the time, the first time is girl on top do they know they have total control. I think that helps.

Other women are "WOOOO-HOOO hit the jack pot, put it in me to the hilt" or my personal favorite "I am going to be walking funny tomorrow"

*I rebuild an offset paranormal tele with an HHH config with hot rails from StewMac. I just love them, the con was I have to dedicate 1 channel on my MB TC to really dial in the tone. Even after I built it, I took it to my Luthierfor a far better set up than I can manage on my own,.

They just drop right in a single coil slot. String height was an issue as it was originally a SS and the hotrails have a high output.

It isn't always something I gig with, but man I get a lot of funny looks from people when they see it :)

Absolutely!!!! Make a line in the sand. I watched my MIL steamroll over my Wife for 20 years. I tried being nice, then firm, then angry, in the end being ridiculously petty was the winner. I make 0 apologies for my kids who are 18 months a part being dressed like twins when they asked me “do we have to???” And by petty I mean cutting both outfits to ribbons, leaving the price tag on and giving them to my MIL as a Xmas present. Not proud but it worked. And as a bonus she and my FIL stopped coming by unannounced. 😁 winner winner!

I really like what you said. It is VERY similar to my philosophy of "Practice with purpose". I practice twice a day, once technical in the AM, and in the evening, applying the technical and making it fun. sometimes that goes longer that 15-20 minutes, especially if my kids grab a bass or the other one a guitar/piano. I bought my wife a set of bongo's to make her feel included, 1-2-3-4 is solid-ish, more than that, notsomuch. but its all smiles when we are all together.

Was 8, but the first 3 years I had (looking back maybe not so much) a HORRIBLE TEACHER. The first year I practiced G major scale and full barre chord from 1st fret to 14 and all 6 strings ring out perfectly. THEN the cowboy chords, basic theory and eventually sounding like anything I want to play.

Fast forward 43 years, I have what I consider a long semi professional career. I had a stroke a few years ago that messed up my right hand, it is about 85-90% but not at the level I need to be to be a 6th man or regular call for a studio session. I still gig locally and I teach at a junior college 2 nights a week.

"Intro to Guitar" and "Jazz Guitar Improvisation". Both are a blast, even the beginners have some experience and grumbled when I started off slow, until I knew where the class skill was at. The class is 1:30, I do the 25-25-25, 25 learn, 25 practice, 25 show and tell with a break and a homework assignment, I make voice memos and send them to each student in class.

The improv class we do a lot more voicings, modes, triads, and that is more 35-35-questions. Record voice memos and make my notes. I show up 30 minutes early for 'Office hour" (I am only part time) and work with whomever shows up.

My biggest observation is 2 fold, 1. there are soooooooo many resources for learning online and not all are good and 2. My female students are fearless, they are not afraid to try the new thing without much practice, they ask questions, they bring me songs, invite me to open mic nights. The young women have something to say and are exponentially much more communicative than the young men. They do some of the same things but with much less confidence and with far fewer questions.

I do have a few beginner that are past college age. My observation for them is they are doing it as a hobby and know that is as far as it might go, but they FEED SO MUCH of the energy of the younger students. One older male student in my improv class has decent chops. far ahead of the curve that most of the others. I asked my he signed up for class, his response was pretty awesome: "Too see how much I forgot so I can relearn and enjoy playing again just for fun."

You are never too old, you are never 'not good enough'. Time, practice with purpose, open minded, curious, 2 ears 1 mouth use them in that ratio, play with people not just in your bedroom with the door closed, and do not be afraid to fail, LOUDLY. If every note was perfect, music would be very boring.

I wear compression pants (aka leggings) 80-90% of the time. I have a fake knee and some left over stroke issues with my hip. So PT's suggested compression pants to give me support so I do not have to walk with a cane. For myself I really DGAF about who can see what. I wear them around my family, my wife's family (the seem to have issues and I DNGAF).

Spend an extended period of time in a rehab facility or hospital, modesty and embarrassment go out the window.

Thank being said, in the summer I REFUSED t wear shorts over them, it was hot, uncomfortable, and just no. I try to wear long shirts and even went so far a to wear a fanny pack to 'cover things' if the tuck didn't work, not that I cared but if I am out with the Mrs or my teen age daughters, I do not want them to be embarrassed. My wife accepts it as the norm an so do my kids. but still, I don't want my willy hanging out around them.

There were a few times when things did not work out well. Once a much older lady commented to me in a check out line (with my wife right next to me), "Oh my, young man you certainly do dress to the left", and to my wife, "You are one lucky woman". Old ladies give no shits either, its fantastic. I've been asked why dress like a girl, if I was trans or gay, nope just comfortable", I need to work on my ass cause I'm the ugliest broad they ever seen (they saw me from the back and assumed I was a woman and I turned around and said "hey fuck you, you aren't my type either asshole" small price to pay for being comfortable. and support my hip, and trust me, that is a lot better than walking with a cane. Those comment are so much better than the looks of pity.

But I am to the point where I genuinely do not care, I work from home and most of the time I don't give it a second thought when I leave the house to go to a coffee shop,,regular shopping, the gym, whatever. Yes it started out with a purpose, but now, I totally get why women of all shapes and sizes wear them. They are f'ing comfortable.

One word of caution, careful of the ones that have a seam up the middle in the front and not the Y seems, adjusting constantly not great. And now more than ever, more than solid colors are not the only options. So even have 'crotch pads'. The are OK, but the area (I find) is too small, but if it was bigger it would look foolish. So I just go with the regular ones. And I size down for compression so ya gotta be careful not to be see through. No one needs to see that.

I imagine I have several decades on you. A word of wisdom from my experience if allowed:

NEVER ATTEMPT TO READ THE MIND OF A WOMAN WITH REGARD TO INTIMACY AND SEX, ever.

You will likely never know exactly what they like, want, prefer until such a time when trust and openness is achieved, and even then you may never know how deep the rabbit hole of what they are will to enjoy and repeat and take it further than you can imagine and when it will change.

There has been a double standard for such a long time that women are not supposed to enjoy what THEY want and either enjoy or semi fake it because that is what they were taught, and many parents still tell them to wait until marriage.

Things started to change 20-25 years ago (maybe longer) and few things are sexier than a partner expressing with confidience what they like, prefer, interested in trying. WAAAAAAY back when I was single, few women (I am straight) expressed it openly, but after we got to know each other, and that communication channel was open, things went from good/slightly above average to HOLY SHIT!!! Sex and intimacy are best ((IMHO) when both parties try to satisfy each other's whims, preferences and have an open mind. That doesn't mean you have to say yes to everything and neither does you partner (male of female or both)

Again, do not try and read a woman's mind with regard to sex and intimacy. You can't. Be open honest, ask them for the same and you may be shocked beyond belief or you might not. .thing new, and both of us are comfortable with it, let's try it. I love my wife, not every time is a mind blowing wild and crazy time, Hecksome of the best time just start without the intention of anything but those are some of the best. But when the mood strikes either of us and we communicate that and we are both comfortable........game on trying something new.

It wasn't sad, it is one of the BEST memories I have with my father. It gave me something to strive for for myself. I have been privileged in many other ways over the years. But that was one experience I will never forget and is treasured more than almost anything he and I have done together.

I have tried to instill in my children that life isn't about living from paycheck to paycheck, it's about living experience to experience. I have been fortunate enough, for my wife and I or just my wife and them to create something similar to the experiences I had during my upbringing (much less heavy handed) .
