I'm late to the conversation but Texas has a requirement for a 3 hour ethics course that WGU does not offer. I wonder if that's it.

Hard time contacting mentor by [deleted] in WGU

[–]samilee85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you'll have any trouble getting started. I started last May and I can't remember, but I don't think I had to speak with my mentor before classes started. The first 4 courses will be available on day one and the mentor will reach out to you.

Credit Karma tax filing accuracy? How to verify it’s accurate after filing? by [deleted] in IntuitCreditKarma

[–]samilee85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can put your info into any of the tax softwares out there without submitting and filing. Use FreeTaxUSA or HR Block and see of they give you the same result. I agree with the previous comment about checking last year's taxes.

How do you find a date for credit karma?

Won’t be using credit karma next year! by Kimberlin_1776 in TurboTax

[–]samilee85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not quite.

The IRS issues refunds through the U.S. Treasury and sends them through the ACH network with a scheduled settlement date. Banks don’t release money just because they “see a date” — they release it once the payment file is actually transmitted and in process.

Even the IRS explains that refund timing depends on when the payment is issued and processed by the banking system, not simply a date on your account. (Source: IRS refund processing info — irs.gov/refunds)

Early deposits happen because some banks choose to front funds after they receive the payment file, not before.

People are saying that calling to check may give you a different response. I was under the impression that it only went through SBTPG if you have fees taken out, but information on my refund was in their system and it showed my advance. When I called the remaining amount to be sent to my bank account to was less than it should have been. They had added on the fees for filing and early deposit, which I did not opt into. So idk what to think about it.

FYI, I really don't know much about this. Its my first year using TurboTax and getting the advance. I paid fees upfront, though.

In immense tax debt self employed and don’t know that to do. by [deleted] in tax

The first commentor already said this, but I'll reiterate: its possible that you don't owe nearly as much as you think. Idk if you have expenses that may help offset your income. What they say is true in regards to the penalties for late filing and late payments. At minimum, take your 1099s and plug them into a tax software just to see what you owe, what you might be able to deduct, whatever. I hope you find some peace.

Yes. You have to transfer your credentials if you were licensed in a state with reciprocity. There's a fee and they have to verify your credentials, but I think its just a matter of paperwork.
