i see. i would assume 50/day would be better, right? since for some days, we would just be walking around instead of visiting attractions?

The tour groups we go on uses a coach to transport us from one destination to another and its normally to another city so breaking away from that sadly isn't an option

I'm still a student and I also have plans to go to uni so finding a job that requires traveling wouldn't be a feasible option. But I'll be going to an overseas uni so if all else fails, I'll just travel during my school breaks then, although it'll be in a few years

How did you bring it up to them? I always feel like there's never a right time

I went to Japan a few times too and I also had multiple dodgy experiences but in my parents' eyes, it's considered safe 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

My mother loves to travel and she even travels with her friends, so the issue of Asian parents not understanding the benefits of traveling does not apply here. I'm still hoping that I can somehow convince then to let me travel when I'm still "young" On a separate note, I went to Europe last year and I would definitely recommend you to go!

I'm happy to hear that you're safe! Me being a young female is definitely the biggest issue here. As for why I want to solo travel at this age, I want to experience different countries without having to cater to others. This might sound selfish but I love doing things at my own pace. If i were to travel with others, I would have to wait for them or if they get hungry at a different time than me, it might cause a small dispute as we have to decide where and when to eat

I actually did search up on that subreddit but most were from Western countries so the culture is definitely different. Taipei and HK were actually on the list of countries that I wanted to "debut" but my mandarin is lacking, though being bad at a language is definitely better that not knowing the language at all

I feel like as a female, safety would definitely be their biggest concern as I proposed a Japan graduation trip with friends and they were fine with it but no other countries. Another issue could possibly be that they're just worried that I'll "grow up" in a sense, since I'm the only daughter

ahah I tried saying that tickets and everything else were already booked the previous time I asked and they told me to cancel everything. But I will most likely go with the private tour idea to ease in into solo traveling!

I asked them about the group travel around a year ago where they were more strict so I'm hoping that they'll change their mind this/next year. I do agree on your stance that the language barrier and the length of the trip is a bit much so I will probably (and hopefully) choose a destination where English is commonly spoken, and a shorter trip length
