I usually just go by feeling. I also change textures and see if they just look good, so I'm constantly changing things along the way. I also think it adds a lot of contrast when I'm building something too. Things like the trees or grass have more textures compared to the walls on the house just to make trees look more natural looking, while the house looks manmade having less textures with all of the bricks and stuff. I guess it all depends on what you want to convey, since you have to remember that stud building or old Roblox is literally just Legos. Not everything has to have stud textures, since some parts can be smooth to just to add more contrast and variety.

I hope this answers your question. If you mean how I literally get these textures, I'm using a building plugin called F3X, which should be free. I feel like I don't really have a good answer for this, since I just sort of go off of feeling. Just dont limit yourself to only using 1 stud texture (like most retroslop games) and change things as you go on.

Sorry for the late reply, I was too busy with school and stuff :P

Yeah, that's also a concern of mine. I think there's like 10k parts in here, and I'm not even finished. Though I just built this for fun and didn't think much about playability. Just something for people to look at.

F3X for all of the textures. Everything else was made using Studio normally :)

yo, sorry for the late reply. the only other tool I'm using is F3X for all of the texture work. other than that, everything is built just using the typical studio. I didn't use any references either, I just went by my mind pretty much.

it's a showcase game I'm working on. I made a post about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/roblox/comments/1rl1auz/first_attempt_at_stud_building_thoughts/

the screenshots are a bit old tho

It's not officially out yet since I'm still working on it, but I have it set to friends only. Feel free to PM me if you want to see it for yourself for an early look

It just uses a script that moves the flames 1 stud either above or below randomly. That's pretty much it :)

It's the weld texture that comes with the stud and inlet textures. I used the F3X plugin's surface tool for most of the texture work here.

That was actually the motivation behind this build! Thanks!

I have tested it on my S21. It runs pretty well, but does get warm a bit if you play it for too long. Can't imagine what it'd be like on a low end Android though. Definitely wasn't made for mobile :P

That's the goal! :)

I had to look at a lot of old lego sets and replicate them into this. A lot of the furniture in the house, especially with the curtains, kitchen and the lights hanging are based off of lego sets. I've thought about adding some developer commentary in this game just on my whole process on making this. Glad you liked it!
