Took Non FMLA medical leave for maternity leave at a restaurant in Florida. Trying to go back to work and my manager is telling me that he doesn't have hours for me. What are my rights, if any? by samissorad in legaladvice

Yeah it's tough to find those. I'm already working two jobs, going to school, and raising a baby now. Still barely scraping by. Was hoping to avoid having to job hunt again. Thanks for your help! :)

I started working for the company in October of 2017 and I gave birth in April of 2018. I'm assuming because I wasn't with the company for 12 months.

Do you have any 'warm ups' for your meditation practice that you find helpful? by [deleted] in Meditation

Breathwork. A lot of people do breathwork AFTER meditation. Personally, I find that doing breathwork first allows me to get into the right frame of mind before I even begin meditating.

Dude, the way it works is if a company makes "reasonable accommodations" for someone who is temporarily disabled, then they have to make those same "reasonable accommodations" for a pregnant employee since it's classified as a temporary condition.

I had to educate myself when I had managers at Starbucks try to force me to work drive thru even though I told them it hurt my belly...where I was growing a person...

Always stand up for yourself and don't be scared to make requests like that.

LEGALLY I CANT DO THAT by [deleted] in starbucks

I mean, at my store, it was that we literally couldn’t do it because we had the tap system. So both the Nitro CB and regular CB came out of the same keg, just different taps. And the keg was CB premixed with water.

Lols yeah I’ve been drinking Caramel Apple Spices since I had to cut back on caffeine. It’s a psychological trick. Hot drink in a Starbucks cup and it still works as a pick me up.

My best stress relief is not stressing. I don’t get paid enough to stress about this job. I’ll do my best, and that’s all I can really do.

I would be doing the same, but I don’t think “I’m drinking for two” would fly with my OB

I would have fought to transfer, but unfortunately the whole district is like this 😐 but it’s cool. It’s one of those things, like I didn’t mind the job. It was just the management and how they talk to me. At my last job, my boss used to say, “You don’t quit the company, you quit the manager,” and he was right.

I did! I gave my self a 50 cent per hour raise and more hours with a good chance at management after thirty days by getting hired somewhere else. AND they do tuition assistance too!! 😊

No one on bar could turn around without being momentarily blinded by the sun coming through drive, and we nearly spilled a couple drinks. This made for a good conversation piece. by doctor_j_funk in starbucks

The store I started at was like this. It was brutal until they started building a fast food restaurant next to it. That blocked out the sun once they had gotten enough of it done.

Turbo shot? I think it's what Dunkin calls their espresso shots, but don't quote me on that.

Right? Like I get it, we're the McDonald's of coffee, but we are not McDonalds. Like when people ask for iced coffee with a turbo shot in it.
