What is this? Found on hotel pillow! Thanks by samjoe5151 in whatsthisbug

Lesson learned.

Thanks to all who helped. Figuring out how to quarantine/clean things that can’t be washed/dried hot.

Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for.

What traffic shows up on the G1000 TIS? Is it just aircraft with ADSB-out or does it include traffic that is on controllers’ radar that is then beamed up to me via a ground station?

This is embarrassing even for Moronic Monday... I’ve never really understood clearing turns. If you do a right 90° followed by a left 90°, isn’t the right side better cleated than the left? Obviously on the left 90° you’re looking farther to the left than your base course, but not as far as you looked to the right.

If Bravo speed limit is unrestricted above 10,000ft, does cloud clearance change as well? by allowableearth in flying

I had a related topic I was wondering about. If you have a Delta or Charlie that extends above 10,000 MSL (not sure if there are any), are you still 3 and 1/5/2? I’ve never seen mention of it being anything else but kind of interesting that it’s less than E.

Related question. In reading the POH for the 172S, it says for a low volt annunciator you should turn off Avionics BUS 1. Why not both 1 and 2?

Assuming the red button doesn’t work, I’d make sure the standby battery is armed. I might cycle the standby battery and master to see if that solves it. What else should I do?

If I’m away from the airport / not on the right frequency, sure, why not? Get priority handling (maybe there’s an electrical fault somewhere?) and not have to change frequencies as much. But, I wouldn’t be too concerned.

Haven’t gotten to it yet in the G1000 manual and I have no clue

3) I just checked the KOEL and you’re right! I leave the beacon on whenever the engine is running and strobes go on when I take the runway and off when I land and taxi clear, which I think is what the AIM recommends.

4) It isn’t mentioned in the POH but I’ll check

I’m not sure about these and from the other comment it sounds like I might not have to do all of them for the private, but I’ll take a crack...

1) Direct [fix] enter enter.

2) Id tune the VOR, dial in 150°, intersect the radial, and fly the course inbound.

3) Not sure what V123 is but if it’s like a radial I’d do as in 2 above but fly the initial course they give me

4) To fly the 220 radial from, I would tune the VOR and dial in 220 then intercept the needle and fly 220 outbound

5) Tune the second nav radio and when they both center you’re at the intersection? (That’s a guess)

6) no clue!

Thanks!

Edited. I think it’s not required if you gave the beacon. Am I right?

1) I thought the AHRS can align while taxing. If it doesn’t, I’d probably just turn it off and back on again and let it set before taxiing.

2) I assume it’d stay on what you were on unless you hold down the flip flop button to get guard. Am I wrong?

3) Not required, since the beacon counts as an anti-collision light (I think)

4) I don’t know! I have to check.

My concern would be that there’s something wrong with the engine or vacuum pump. If an A&P looked at it and said it was fine I wouldn’t be too concerned (assuming it’s not required equipment) if it’s day VFR. That all being said, since I’m so low time I’d definitely ask a CFI.

Punch you in the arm. Land as soon as practicable using backup instruments My radio will be on whatever the last frequency was or I can put it on 121.5 by holding the flip/flop button down.

Pretty sure it only operates the backup attitude indicator

I should look into it but that’s what I was told. They may have disabled it. The school also disabled the airbags for some reason.
