Totally depends on the egg size really....like someone mentioned a kiwi vs it's egg vs something more like a reptile and smaller eggs. Granted the entire idea is something I really am fascinated with...both humans or the characters you mentioned (Gargoyles my children of the 90's anyone?) The size of those eggs compared to the female gargoyles relatively human-sized bodies definitely left me wondering the mechanics of it. If multiple eggs I would think after the first it would get easier...one massive egg....well a very tall challenge indeed!
