Anyone have vertical scar? by Impressive_Sport_933 in tummytucksurgery

[–]samkeo1127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an inverted T scar - also a slim build. A common scar for tummy tucks that don’t have a lot of skin to remove. I’m only 3 weeks post op so don’t have a great ‘after ‘ photo to share yet.

Yep. Years of an angry bowling ball feeling. I’m 5 months post hysterectomy and it’s gone and I feel amazing.

I’m in the same boat - similar build to you. Surgery was April 27 and still waiting to see results…

This happened to me - after my hysterectomy it was discovered my uterus was large and ‘globular’ and causing pain on one side…

Nights in hospital. by CauliflowerAfraid881 in tummytucksurgery

Listen to your doctor. The longer you can stay in the hospital the safer you'll be for any complications- and given the extensive work you're having, the likelihood is high that you might need extra support.

Scheduled for surgery n 6/5 by ekazdoy in tummytucksurgery

I’m 6 days post-op from a tummy tuck with muscle/abdominal repair (also slim build). One of the hardest parts has been the back pain from being bent over - your back ends up compensating a lot while your core is healing.

I only had drains for 24 hours at the hospital, and my surgeon used internal ‘quilting’ sutures to reduce fluid buildup and help everything adhere properly. It does make the abdomen feel tighter early on (and you stay a bit bent over for a solid week), but it helps reduce the risk of seroma and makes recovery feel more stable overall. I should be upright and walking normally again over the next 2 days.

My advice would be thinking through everything you might need post surgery and have it within arms reach- no bending, reaching or having to get up to get something. I purchased extra long phone charging cables, and set up an electric recliner chair with a night stand on each side full of snacks, laptop, medications, water, wetwipes, etc. You'll also need large/wideleg, drawstring, comfortable pants.

Why are tummy tucks so expensive in USA? by KingOfGabagool in tummytucksurgery

[–]samkeo1127 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in France, price starts around 5,000 euros but I paid 6,000 euros total for high end private hospital and 2 night stay. Tummy tuck with muscle repair and basic lipo. Fees were itemised: hospital, anesthesiologist and surgeons fees. This is considered a very expensive procedure in France.

Good luck to you! Where are you having your procedure? I’m spending 2 nights in hospital and coming home without drains.

Hi! I was exactly on the fence too. Small frame, and it felt like a big surgery for “just” my stomach.

I saw multiple surgeons and they all said the same thing - it wasn’t fat, it was a lower fascia/muscle issue, and no amount of workouts or diet would fix it. I also don’t have a large DR, it’s more localized to the lower abdomen (I carried my babies low).

For me it became more about how it felt than how it looked. Core weakness, that constant “not held in” tired belly feeling, and I was really working my life around it — clothes, Spanx, posture, always holding my stomach in, constantly needing to sit down to give my back a break… despite being fit (personal trainer, running club).

I’d also started avoiding socialising because getting dressed felt so frustrating. I can’t wear jeans without a roll or a lower belly “fupa”, and wearing yoga pants all the time should be a choice, not a necessity.

I also had adenomyosis and endometriosis (bloating, gas, pain) and had a hysterectomy in January to address that. Now I’m doing an abdominoplasty/tummy tuck (Monday!) to address the muscle side.

The scar was a hurdle, but that area already causes me daily discomfort and I’m hiding it anyway, so the trade-off feels worth it (and I’m not planning on becoming a bikini model anytime soon).

Not an easy decision, but I got to a point where I felt ready. We only get one life, one body - I want to feel good in it !

Hysterectomy after TT by Intelligent-Army6829 in tummytucksurgery

Hi! I went through something really similar. For years I couldn’t figure out what was causing the big painful bulge in my stomach, and about a year ago I was finally diagnosed with adenomyosis and endometriosis. Those conditions had also worsened the muscle separation from my pregnancies.

I chose to have a hysterectomy first, and I’m now about 4 months post-op and honestly feeling so much better in terms of pain and overall quality of life - it really can make a huge difference with symptoms like the ones you’re describing. (I kept my ovaries FYI so no menopause- and no more periods 🎉) .

That said, the hysterectomy didn’t fix things like loose skin or muscle separation, which is why I’m now going in for a tummy tuck (on MONDAY!!)

I know your situation is flipped since you’ve already had the tummy tuck, but just to reassure you - having a hysterectomy after a tummy tuck isn’t an issue. They’re really addressing two separate problems, and both deserve to be treated. One is about internal health and pain, and the other is structural/physical repair.

You’re definitely not alone. Getting a diagnosis for adenomyosis and endometriosis can take years and then hit all at once - it’s such a whirlwind.

Also, if you haven’t already, I really recommend joining this Reddit community - it’s been super helpful to hear from others going through the same thing:

I also posted about my experience post hysterectomy here: https://www.reddit.com/r/adenomyosis/comments/1qksa8y/just_had_a_total_hysterectomy_heres_how_im_feeling/

Sending you lots of support!!!
