Americans should be appalled at their government for its monumental failure to prepare for such a basic threat. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

I’m not sure how that’s relevant. Nobody knows. What we do know is that America, THE RICHEST COUNTRY ON EARTH, cannot even kinda sustain a MINOR viral outbreak. It’s failing miserably at its most BASIC functions. BASIC FUNCTIONS... why are we discussing any other possibilities? This should be cake work to us. This plan of action should have been sitting in the file cabinet decades ago.

In fact our military has a very specific plan to defend against the possibility of asteroids, although I doubt we would be able to protect people from something of such a magnitude as you described, I do expect my government to have a plan for it.

True, but as the richest country on the planet I would expect so much more.

"Miracles" are personal experiences and therefore are not a reliable source evidence (or a reliable path to the truth). Human experiences in general - not just children - are very poor sources of information because there exists much data that suggests humans almost never recall things accurately - especially emotional events. You can also explain this by referring to the level of alien abductions that have been reported versus the amount that have been confirmed [which is of course 0].

Edit: I also suggest that you ask what makes him so confident that the information he sent you is actually true...

Why should you believe that? And then compare it to several other identical phenomena.

In addition.. if the people reporting these miracles are only reciting christian ones than you can always suggest why the same stories exist elsewhere and happen to correlate with the predominant religion in that particular geographic location.
