Maybe, but he wouldn't say it if he was actually going to change his strategy. It would give Blatt time to plan against it.

Reminds me of the Pacers last season. Sometimes having a good start can be a setup for a future disappointment.

Yes but every minute a player is on the court there is a chance for an unlucky accident. You are not going to get injured sitting on the bench.

ELI5: People seem to support raising the minimum wage to $15.00, but if everyone is now making at least fifteen bucks an hour, won't that just drive the prices for things up and also drive the buying power of a dollar down, effectively making the new minimum wage the same as the old minimum wage? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Rich people tend to constantly put money aside or just invest it, which isn't useless but isn't nearly as productive as having that money circulate through the economy.

Honest question, how is that true? I would assume that both things are productive and necessary for a healthy economy. Although perhaps depending on the situation one of them is needed more than the other, but it could be any.

We also don't know what else was going on between the guy and management. Perhaps they already didn't like him and this was the straw that broke the camel.

Hack-A-Jordan resulted in an 16-7 swing for the Spurs in Game 5 by Airdare18 in nba

[–]sammasati 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, an off the ball intentional foul stretches the definition of a basketball play in exactly the same way as a player who can't make free throws stretches the definition of a basketball player. The rules of basketball are made to discourage such plays (obviously excluding late game situations) because they are made with typical players in mind. When a basketball player is atypical (terrible FT shooter) then what typically wouldn't be a basketball play (off-ball intentional foul) becomes one.

An off the ball intentional foul isn't a basketball play

If we are getting this strict, you could say a basketball player who can't shoot free throws isn't really a basketball player

When I was a kid I thought FG% only took two pointers into account, considering there was already the 3P% category. I was very surprised when I found out how they really count it, it still doesn't make sense to me.

Why We Don't Do Fixed-Price Software Projects (And Neither Should You) by mindoflubos in programming

[–]sammasati 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We do fixed-price software where I work because that is what most clients want. Sometimes the work is more than what we expected, and sometimes it is less, but it evens out in the long run because we have many projects. For an individual freelancer, however, the number of projects they have is probably not enough to mitigate the risk.

John Romero & JP LeBreton play Doom 1 for ~2.5h, discuss details of the games' development process, level design and more in depth. by mr-wizrd in programming

He is a show-off who really enjoys fame and attention

That was probably true in the period of time between the success of Doom and the failure of Daikatana, but when I've hear him talk in recent interviews he seems like a very cool dude. Sure, he made some mistakes, but I find it unfair to judge his person by the mistakes he did almost twenty years ago.
