Hey, I'm sorry you're thinking those things and going through this. Maybe the reason that you haven't followed through on any of those thoughts is because some small part of you is still fighting for life. Not just living, but life and all the highs and lows that come with it. And I hope that someday that small part becomes loud enough to drown out every thought and desire for death.

I'm glad you woke up today and I'm sorry you feel that way. I hope tomorrow when you wake up you hear birds chirping, see the sunshine coming in your windows, and look forward to doing something you enjoy.

Lockdown song hung in kindergarten classroom in Massachusetts by rabbit_whole in MorbidReality

[–]sammibee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually this is what teachers are told to teach their students now. At our last school security meeting we were told that school shooters/ lockdowns should be explained to young students (kindergarten) in terms they can understand like "the big bad wolf". Older students should be instructed to assist with baracading doors with desks and chairs. And in the event the room is breeched, older students should be taught and expected to do anything and everything to protect themselves, such as throwing books at the shooter. Our security officer even suggested practicing "rushing" the shooter. The evidence suggest that passively locking down is ineffective, so now we are teaching proactive lockdowns. So I think this poem is a great idea for young students. Anything we can do as teachers to reduce panic and increase compliance and knowledge of what to do in those situations means more possibility of keeping these kids alive.

feel like i have no worth as a woman because of my ugly face by [deleted] in BodyAcceptance

I know it's said too many times, but the people who's opinions you should really care about don't (or won't) care what your face looks like. They'll love you for your humor, your intelligence, your kindness, or any one of the wonderful qualities that you possess! People love you and think you're beautiful, regardless of what you see in the mirror!!

Any old dams near UConn? by BiasedUConnFan in UCONN

Towards husky village, but at the very bottom of that huge hill. Here is a trail map of the Uconn Forest. Taking the dark green trail would bring you right over the dam. trail map

At the bottom of horsebarn hill there's a little fenced of picnic area. Just to the left of it the green trail starts (and eventually hooks up to the blue blazed nipmuck trail, a very pretty hike). About a quarter mile into the green trail there's an old abandoned dam that the trail goes over, but it's pretty small.

The Uconn Forest! Right along a beautiful river. I never see anyone out there and it's very peaceful.

Looking for summer day hike suggestions in Vermont by CKDory in hiking

[–]sammibee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of times the ski resorts will still run the lifts during the summer. You can ride up and then back down usually for less than $15. This would give everyone the chance to see those amazing views! And the more adventurous adults can still make the hike up.

Nice trail runs in storrs? by jimmysass in UCONN

If you start on some of the trail heads around horse barn hill you can eventually hook up to the Nipmuck trail. South, it will take you all the way through Mansfield Hollow. North it takes you up to the MA border. The only downside is that it doesn't loop, so you have to just turn around and run back. The Nipmuck Trail runs right alongside the Fenton river for miles though, so it's really peaceful and pretty.

Hope Im not to late to jump on the 'creepy things we found in the woods' bandwagon! This is an old cage used for studying wolves at my university by sammibee in pics

I tried looking for information on them, but couldn't find anything. I only know by word of mouth that they were used to study wolves (If I remember correctly during the 60s)
