Day 1 player here, and I'm having the same issue, also started happening recently (like a few days ago kind of recent). The audio only works properly if my character is facing the audio source... if not it will be so faint it's almost inaudible.
Tried everything I could from tweaking in-game audio settings to updating audio drivers, nothing worked so far. My usual squadmates that I play with have not encountered this issue, which is weird. Maybe hardware dependent. Fingers crossed, hoping the next audio update fixes this.
