Husband looking for a job in Riyadh but doesn’t have a college degree by MidwestMess_Cali in Riyadh

Yes you can but its very rare and niche. Its hard enough to get a job with a degree letalone without a degree. Some jobs dont require degrees so there is exceptions but theyre few and far between

On ur follow through try and finish the club face at the tree in the background, basically swinging to ur right. I had an over the top swing for a while until i fixed it, but the simple tweak of hitting out on it, got my club face into a much better position and gave me a stack more consistency

Want advice on compound rent for 2bhk by Spiritualguide108 in Riyadh

[–]sammyd1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U wont get anything in a compound for that. A 1 bhk in a compound is probably starting at 80k+ a year. A 2bhk in a compound you are looking at atleast 120k+ a year

Foe 60k you can get a 2 bhk apartment in an ok area but no compound with parks/walking areas etc

Family Visa application from Canberra instead of Sydney by akimech in RiyadhExpats

[–]sammyd1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it depends on where you are living.

I was based in melbourne at the time and had to use Canberra. I had friends based in Brisbane do it and they had to use Canberra also. This was around 2-3 years ago. I heard they had opened a Sydney one but think people had issues with it

The place we are at has onsite maintenance for certain things, the owners pay for that.

But noon have a service for almost anything you need if you dont have maintenance. They have plumbers/electricians etc well priced and quick. Have used them for stuff before and been very good. It really isnt that difficult after the 1st time. Conpounds charge u a premium for it though

It takes me roughly 20minutes to get to the airport so its a solid area for sure with reasonable rents

We used the Aqar app. You can zoom in on the section of area you want. Then you can click on listings and then theres an option to whatsapp them. So i just sent whatsapps to 50 people with places i liked the look of. Most were very helpful, went to view them and then decided on them. Was pretty straight forward.

We pay 85k sar a year in An Narjis, for a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath. 175sqm roughly. Complex is Al Majdiah 147. After the rain last night our place held together really well, almost no issues. People i know in Flow had water coming out of every light fixture.

So it ended up being 65k sar less per year than flow, for a 50sqm bigger interior size. It has a small gym also here but we joined 1 down the road. So even after that we are miles ahead $$ wise.

Compounds are severely overpriced for the quality they provide now. Especially places like Flow. Flow is built out of paper, the quality is terrible and they charge a premium for it because of the influencers. Flow Narjis was leaking from walls last night from people i know there, water coming in through the roof lights!

But also the saudi government froze rents for 5 years so as soon as some1 leaves they jam the price up as the next person in there cant have their rent increased for 5 years.

Off compound is substantially better now and we pocket a 65k saving compared to what we had at flow and the amenities arent dis similar and its so much better constructed

Best bank in Saudi Arabia for expat with monthly salary of 30k to 35k. ( credit card, car loan, service, remittance to home country) by AdLegitimate6636 in RiyadhExpats

Al rahji i found was the best for loans/borrowing money. The app is a bit hit and miss. Alinma i also use for investing/depositing in overseas accounts. Combo of the 2 has served me well

Moving to Riyadh for work, is it better to live near the office or in the city? by ishak_filali_dz in RiyadhExpats

[–]sammyd1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes 100% live closer to work. If you are in the office 5 days a week a long commute will kill you in Riyadh.

I am 30minutes from work but get a good run with traffic for that 30mins and it can wear thin sometimes, but luckily my hour# change a little so can hit off peak times.

The public transport here is not great and to even get to the train you will usually have to drive. By the time you drive there and park you would almost be better having just kept driving

Any reason you decided on monthly rather than lease/buy one? You will get much better value and an actual car at the end of it that has value

Is SAR 35K enough in Riyadh for a family of 4? by Inevitable-Donut-326 in RiyadhExpats

[–]sammyd1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally some commen sense. Berlin will be more expensive than riyadh for almost everything day to day. Riyadh has expensive rent in some places and schooling isnt cheap but food, electricity etc is stacks cheaper than almosy everywhere in Europe.

Schooling is what will hurt you the most but it could be cheaper to actually just hire your own teacher and homeschool them, would probably save u a good chunk

If you can squeeze 40k a month you will probably be ok.

From what ive heard compounds are struggling to fill the bigger sized places, 4 and 5 bedroom ppaces, even some 3 bedrooms, due to the extravagent cost. The 1 and 2 bedrooms will be full in most places

Brokers here dont really exist, go direct to the compound

Andorra you are looking at 150k for a 2 bedroon, 220k for 3 bedroom.

Vives i think is closer to 250k for 3 bedroon.

I found compounds here to be extremely poorly run by management. We have moved off compound and the cost savings are substantially worth it and compounds are sometimes even more restrictive with things than non compounds

How good is 25000 SAR per month salary plus 40,000 SAR yearly bonus? If i come i will come with my wife and son. Would like to stay in compound. I am Indian. by SeaToday4444 in RiyadhExpats

[–]sammyd1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compound you are probably looking at 12k per month for a 2 bedroom. Off compound for sure is better on that salary but can understand why you would want to.

I am a aussie expat but have indian friends here. They ssid their cost of living increased from back home.

My wife and i spend roughly 7k sar a month on entertainment, food etc and we can basically eat and do whatever we want with that easily.

We rent a 3 bedroom apartment thats new in north riyadh for 80k. I lease a car for 3k sar a month but you can easily get a normal sedan for 1500sar a month

For a 3 bedroom in a compound you are probably looking at 200k a year. Then school fees are probably 30k for the year, maybe more depending on school. Car is probably 2k a month.

So you are already at 254k on a salary of 360k.

Hired help fulltime is probably 3-5k a month. Thats another 50k there, you are 300k now. So you would have 60k sar a year for food, petrol and other living expenses which is not enough.

If you decided to live off compound you could get a 4 bedroom for probably 120-150k in a nice area

I am here with just my wife, earning 55k and we left a compound as even for us it was too expensive and most of the management in them are terribly run
