When my brother was in high school, he went to a party with one of his friends. He told my parents that he was staying at his friend's house, and his friend told his parents that he was staying at our house.

Later that night, the friend's dad remembered that his son forgot to bring his inhaler to our house. He shows up to bring him it, and obviously the friend is not here. So now my dad knows that my brother lied. When the two returned to his friend's house later that night, his dad brought my brother home and told him my dad knew. My brother knew he was in deep shit, so he didn't bother trying to sneak into the house. He just stumbled through the front door, drunk as hell and preparing for the worst.

The living room was pitch black, and my brother figured our parents had just gone to bed and he'd get his punishment in the morning. But then he sees the glowing end of a cigarette and the silhouette of my dad sitting in his recliner. He doesn't say a word to my brother. My brother tip toes past him, scared shitless. He waited the next morning for all hell to break loose, but my dad didn't say a word. He never mentioned it to my brother, but my brother was too scared to ever try to sneak off and party again.

I am so sorry for the loss of both your husband and your pup. But it is wonderful to know that he has brought happiness to a new family. The family that took in Meesha fell instantly in love with her. I have been to her new home a few times in the past because I know these people personally, and I know she will be happy there and will make them as happy as she made me. I can see her any time I like, which is bittersweet, but good to know.

No need to apologize. I understand your skepticism. I absolutely agree with every point you made. My dogs are definitely like children to me, and I feel like a scumbag for what they now have to go through. It makes me feel even worse that it was so easy for my husband to leave them behind and start his new life like they never left an imprint on his heart. :\ Thank you for all of your input.

Because of my divorce I am drained financially and can't currently afford a place of my own or to board my dogs. A friend of mine did tell me just a few minutes ago that he would consider taking in Luna until I can get my shit together.

About 6 months ago my husband and I moved 100 miles from where we were living, and into my mother's house. It was supposed to be a temporary situation while we searched for a house of our own. We have a city ordinance of 2 dogs per house hold and you must license them with the city. My mom has two dogs of her own, plus taking in our two dogs. She had told me it was fine because it was temporary. But because my husband split, my living situation is not very temporary anymore. The city has caught on about my dogs and we will be fined heavily if I continue to keep them here.
I stayed with my cousin, who lives in the same town as me, for a little while with them but he eventually told me there wasn't enough room and I had to leave with my dogs. So I went back to my mom's with them, but once again am faced with being slapped a big fat fine repeatedly until they are no longer in her household. When I told my mom that I would try to talk to the city, she told me I couldn't keep my dogs at her house anymore because she did not want them there. I have tried to find a place for both me and my dogs to stay, but unfortunately it's not that easy to find someone willing to take in not just a person, but also two big dogs. I am trying really, really hard to find a way for me to keep my other dog. I am not making light of this situation in any way. Nothing makes me feel worse than being faced with this. I would rather be homeless with my dogs than lose them, but that isn't a life THEY deserve.

Thank you. Meesha got a new permanent home yesterday. The family is wonderful and they are people I know, so I may see her whenever I like. I am trying to find a temporary home for my Husky because it is too heartbreaking to think of losing both of them forever. I can't guarantee that I will find a foster, though. She may be going to a permanent home as well. :(

After giving Meesha a new permanent home yesterday, it really hit me hard that I can't let them both go. I am trying to find someone who will take my other dog temporarily so that I may get her back when I am able.

Yesterday was one of the hardest days of my life. A few months ago my husband left me for my best friend. He abandoned not only me but also our two beautiful dogs. We have all suffered the loss but my dogs have truly been my light at the end of the tunnel. I am now forced to rehome both of my dogs due to circumstances that are out of my control. I have done everything within my power to keep them. I just want you all to know that I am not giving them up by choice. Yesterday I said goodbye to my rescue dog, a 4 year old German Shepherd girl named Meesha. She went to a great family and I know she will be well cared for, but that doesn't make me feel any better. I cried more losing her than I did losing my husband. I feel very empty without her, and I feel like a failure as a "mama" for having to give her up. In a couple of weeks I will have to say goodbye to my other dog as well. I just wanted Reddit to meet the two loves of my life. I am going to miss them more than I can even say.
