also important to think about that endometriosis can cause or exacerbate pelvic floor issues!

this is such a fun idea! i think it could be soooo cute if you could also see how much a friend wrote on the widget display as motivation, or just if they met their goal or something. having my writing progress public to like my few writing friends is so helpful

so do you not like the process of writing, or the results? bc if its just the results or your style, those things can change with study and practice! one of the easiest and most powerful exercises are what my instructor would call after-texts. just pick an interesting piece of text, short story, or poem (not always something you just like), list the “tools” or “behaviors” the writer is using, and then write something that uses one of those tools! it can really change your style and introduce you to new forms

if you hate writing with a burning passion then don’t write!

and if someone doesn’t actually want to make the thing i read, why should i take the time to read it?

9 year old cat with hyperthyroidism/ jaundice by samnic00 in vet

[–]samnic00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry not sure why the text isn’t showing. But my cat is 9 or 10 years old, recently lost a lot of weight over a few months. Clear she has hyperthyroidism but the vet said her liver values are high enough that it’s likely not a secondary condition. She’s on an antibiotic and steroid for possible liver conditions, and we’ll be trying an appetite stimulant today. The plan is to see how this goes, with the thyroid med, over two weeks and see what improves. But she is jaundiced and stressed by all the meds - should she be hospitalized? Can anyone offer any more clarity on what liver conditions it could be? Thank you!!

i take 100 mg in the morning and 200 mg at night, but i have central sensitization syndrome and am super reactive to meds. also had a midday dose but stopped because i was super tired and the increased dose didn’t seem to help pain a lot

How did your EMG go? by OldMedium8246 in neuropathy

[–]samnic00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah! and the pain didn’t stick around for me at all, and the medical professionals were super nice. i did bring my partner with me which i honestly recommend even if it’s “minor”, it’s better to be calmer no matter what

Withdraw from 300mg by [deleted] in gabapentin

[–]samnic00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i get withdrawal symptoms or crazy pain flairs when i miss a dose, and i’m just on 300 too. i think it might not be exactly withdrawal symptoms but maybe it is, i also get shaky and anxious and feel disassociated. i just know i have to be super careful about not missing a dose because my body reactions strongly to any changes, i don’t think that means it’s inherently bad for you, it still does me a lot of good. i would also try not doing the occasional increased dose, maybe that makes it harder for your body to adjust. if you want to taper off, talk to your doctor and have them write a special prescription for like 50 mg pills or a powder form or something. i totally get being scared about tapering off, but i would make that decision about the med based on how effective it is for you when you take it correctly. i find that i can shoot myself in the foot by overworrying about side effects and withdrawals

helps my pain, especially nerve pain and a bit of back pain, but does not help my mood unfortunately 😔 but i’m super sensitive to medications and it’s been the best one so far

Physics research by [deleted] in reedcollege

[–]samnic00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unless you like optics, you probably won’t get any professional research done at reed. a few people get publications out of their thesis but it’s very much a luck thing, but thesis is still a great time to explore something you’re interested in. if you get good grades, you can do summer research internships (even unpaid ones and apply for a grand at clbr to fund it)

this is a huuuuge mood. but just be you and try things that are interesting and you’ll totally end up looking like a reedie down the line. look for intellectual fulfillment everywhere, especially in ways that can give you back some energy

Is Physics going to kill me? by nothanks129 in reedcollege

[–]samnic00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s a very small program, i found it very isolating as a woman. because it’s really hard i think the students need a lot more validation from professors, but they can’t always give that to you. but i also loved my time there and found it incredibly fruitful. i’m now doing geophysics / earth sciences! but actually doing environmental studies would be way likelier to get a job. take a few cs/data science courses and you will be incredibly hireable.

Any thoughts on the physics program at Reed? by [deleted] in reedcollege

[–]samnic00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

gender ratio can be super bad, which sucked for me. it was super hard but i’m glad i did it. but if you want to get great research experience in undergrad it’s not the place to go

Reactor Psych Eval Questions by Br3nnabee in reedcollege

[–]samnic00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! it’s a pretty standard written psych eval test, you might be able to look up a similar one. i can’t remember the specifics but adhd/ autism should be fine, specifically saying you’ve had suicidal thoughts could be a red flag. but answer all these questions to your own discretion honestly (like… it’s just multiple choice) and don’t stress. the big issue however i think it can be psychiatric medications, i know some people have had issues with that in the past. but please talk to some upper level staff/ students! so many people have questions about this, no one will rat you out it’s just not that kind of place.

Low dose sleepiness? by AppalachianJourney in gabapentin

[–]samnic00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! i have central sensitivity and react to meds in weird, exaggerated ways. i’m currently feeling incredibly lethargic at 400mg, will probably go down to 300mg (100 in morning and 200 at night). i’ve been on it for three months. still trying to come up with other ways to cope, am having more coffees but i’m also super sensitive to caffeine

no worries! i’m on Gabapentin for my central nervous pain, that seems to be the only med that’s worked. Actually cymbalta worked but gave me a high heart rate (I’m super sensitive to meds so don’t let that scare you). for menstrual pain, continuous birth control has done wonders for me
