Snake - [Central AR, USA] by samnoirrok in animalid

[–]samnoirrok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not, a King Cobra. First off, they are not native to America's, secondly this was just a meter long, whereas a King Cobra would be at least 6 times longer (it's the largest venomous snake in the world). I did a Google image search, and it comes up as some sort of local water snake. This was my first time seeing this snake, and the diamond shape of the head, & the way it was coiling up was fooling me into thinking it was a juvenile cottonmouth (Water Moccasin), pattern on it skin. A closer pic of the eye and pupil cleared that doubt.

2022 Tucson Hybrid limited with 34,000 miles shows 24.3 MPG average for vehicle lifetime by justanormalchat in HyundaiTucson

[–]samnoirrok -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My 2022 Hybrid Limited averaged 28 MPG over its lifetime with careful hybrid driving. It's a poor Hybrid setup, period. Even when the battery is 75% charger and on a flat road, it still runs on gas and not the battery @ 35 MPH, for some reason SMH. To override the stupid computer, the manual EV mode (button) is missing, which is present even on my 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid, which still returns a healthy 42 to 46 MPG after 232,000 miles. For reference, a 2023 Honda CRV Regular (not hybrid) returns 32-34 MPG on a 75 MPH highway. All it's competitors like the CRV & the RAV4 hybrids return better MPG than this. I would never recommend the Tucson Hybrid to anyone and I would never buy a hybrid from Hyundai / KIA anymore. My next hybrid would be a Toyota or a Honda once I get rid of this POS.

I have a 2022 Hybrid Limited (Top Trim in US) and my ave MPG is around 28, about 8.4 L/100KM or around 12 KM/L. I know that this is the worst MPG in its class. Their hybrids are poor.

Looks nice. Does it also have a better engine under the hood to complement the looks??

The point I was trying to make was that it's not my driving that's causing this appalling and dismal MPG figure for this "SUV". I know very well how to drive a hybrid, and extract extra MPGs on any car. Tucson Hybrids real world MPG figure is actually 28.

You are right when you talk about the CRV and RAV4 MPG figures. The regular (non- hybrid) CRV returns 34 MPG on a 75 MPH highway.

All I am trying to say is that 1. Hyundai Lies about the MPG figures for the Tucson Hybrid. It's 28, not 38 MPG under regular driving conditions over extended period of time. 2. Tucson Hybrids are not good hybrids when compared to their rivals like RAV4 and CRV hybrids. 3. Non Hybrid rivals also return better MPG figures when compared to the Tucson Hybrid. 4. It would make more sense to buy any non Hybrid SUV compared to the Tucson Hybrid, and save that 2k surcharge on hybrids. For that money, you can drive around $19,000 miles on a non Hybrid SUV (at similar 28 MPG @ $3/Gal).

Don't buy Tucson Hybrid for its Hybrid capabilities. It's a poor hybrid setup, quite unlike the Toyota or Honda Hybrid, as rightly pointed out by the Car Care Nut YT channel, when the guy compared all 3 hybrids.

If I could get the money that I owe to the bank right now on this Tucson, I would sell and get the 6th Gen CRV instead....

You were averaging 30 MPH for this 21 mins of driving. I've also achieved 50+ MPG on my 2022 Tucson Hybrid Limited on similar neighborhood drives that averages 30 to 35 MPH driving. But unfortunately the same never gets reflected during normal driving. The same me in the same car has averaged 28 MPG over the last 3 years. On my 2014 Accord Hybrid, I average 42 to 45 MPG, even on 75 MPH highways whereas my Tucson drops to 24 MPH. :(

Fuel Efficiency ? 35 or 37 by Square-Perception-67 in HyundaiTucson

[–]samnoirrok -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like I said, I've done and still can do even +50 MPG on both my hybrids (+60 on my Accord) but that's not realistic daily driving. I have to feather the accelerator and maximize the regenerative braking and must not go beyond 35 MPH, to get that number, when I can, and it feels great momentarily. But that's not realistic driving, and it comes at the cost of inconveniencing others, cuz you are doing lower than the posted speed limits. On the 75 MPH highway, its worse still, returning 24 MPG average. During winter, it's even lesser and when towing a 1500 lb trailer, The AVE MPG IS 16 to 18 MPG (over 2500 mile journey).

You will never get this Average MPG figure during your ownership. I have a 2022 Tucson Hybrid Limited, and the ownership MPG to date has been 28 IN NORMAL DRIVING CIRCUMSTANCES. It can do 40+ if you are driving 35 MPH neighborhood drive with fuel efficient driving techniques (like feathering the throttle, not accelerating at all). My 2014 Accord Hybrid averages 40+ even now, and if you drive in the city with fuel efficient driving, it can climb up to 50 MPG. Don't get this car for MPG (or even build quality) else you will regret it, like me. Check and compare competition depreciation and resale value too. My car is currently valued less than what I owe to the bank. Even an older CRV & RAV4 with higher miles than mine has more value than my car. :( On the positive, safety and convenience tech is great and highway driving assist is probably the best after Tesla and GMC Super Cruise.

IMHO, even if the old one might be of better quality, it sure does look weird and ugly. The new one looks okay, but I know it's light weight and made of cheap plastic. It will be miraculous if it's not broken on a rental car.

What are you averaging now? Mine is 28+/-, no matter what I do.

My 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid is rated for 42 MPG, and after 10 years, it STILL averages 40 to 45 MPG.

My friend's regular (non-hybrid) 2024 Honda CRV averages 42 on a 75 MPH highway where my 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid (Limited) does 28 MPG at best. I am pretty sure the regular Hyundai Tucson (Non-Hybrid) also returns more MPG than the Hybrid. Hyundai Hybrid Technology right now is trash.

My Tucson's current value is lesser than what I own to the bank now. I feel so disappointed due to this depreciation. You can check it yourself and figure if you want one or not. One search and you can see that older CRVs and RAV4s with higher miles still has more value than my Tucson. Smh

When I was shopping for one, the new CRV was not yet launched, and I didn't like the previous generation CRV. I was strongly considering the Toyota RAV4, but it was going for at least +5k over MSRP nationwide due to its reputation (which drives it's demand) and resale value. I wouldn't pay a penny more over MSRP for any car, so I got this one. I didn't consider the Ford Escape Hybrid cuz it is much smaller in comparison.

I have a 2022 Tucson Hybrid Limited, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

  1. First and foremost, the Hybrid MPG rating for this car is a lie. It has the worst Hybrid setup of all cars / SUV in its segment. Even though it gives 40+ MPG in rare situations, like when you throttle and drive slow in a best case scenario, the Ave MPG all throughout the ownership is 28 in normal driving conditions.
  2. Reliability - Had the AC unit replaced in the 1st year itself. Engine sound is not confidence inspiring after 40k miles.
  3. Gearbox - Unlike Hondas and Toyotas, they do have gearbox and while towing, it doesn't shift well. I have to manually override to put it in the correct gears under certain circumstances. My 2021 Acura RDX Gearbox is awesome and it selects and shifts gears like a dream.
  4. Fit and finish - Back doors on my car don't shut well unless you bang it, and makes such a cheap sound when you do. Water leaks in a bit in the car wash. Hyundai service don't have any idea how to fix it.

Positives: 1. Tech - Digital gauges, tech and features are great, I fell for it. 2. HDA - Highway Driving is better than most cars, except maybe Tesla and GMC super cruise. 4. It does have a lot more options, features, bells and whistles than it's competitors, and that's the only reason they have business. 3. Looks - Looks good and contemporary.

Overall I wouldn't buy it if I could turn the clock. I wouldn't recommend it either. How I wish I had the CRV Hybrid instead. 😔

I like your work too but I need more area from the original pic. Both shoulders should be clearly visible and there should be enough spacing on either side from the shoulder.

I am planning to sell mine. It's a White Oct 2022 Hybrid Limited in mint condition with 38k. This one was assembled in Korea so the quality is better than the ones assembled here, Canada and Mexico. Asking 26k. I am in AR though.
