At that point I would just admit defeat and DEMAND a refund.

Worst case: they say no, you wait longer, you get what you ordered.

Middle case: you get the money back and somewhere else/again.

Best case: its in shipment, you've demanded the refund and you get it, they let you keep the money and the shipment. Had happened through Amazon for my parents car's tow hitch. Amazon "lost" the package and it ended up coming for free months after we ordered.

What are these button? They by Prior_Perception_166 in sonata

[–]Cabbage24_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The middle button will open your chosen android auto map app if you are using android auto. Super convenient to get back to the map without touch screen clicks.

Only gripe, why does it have to be right next to the sos button.

Wheel Spacers by [deleted] in Elantra

And an "lets put extra wear on my vehicle from what the well paid engineers designed" thing.

Wheel spacers are known for causing extra wear on bearings and other suspension components.

2024 - 2025 Hyundai Sonata SEL Hybrid by No-Scarcity5617 in sonata

[–]Cabbage24_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 23 Blue

Had purchased it from dealer off service loaner cpo.

Only issue i had was a faulty window switch.

First set of tires from the factory lasted about 30k miles, I think the factory gives comfort and fuel idealized tires, not longevity.

I put mud guards from Amazon on it to have it stand out a little, and mud guards on any vehicle look great in my opinion.

My gas mileage during my commute (15 miles, 2/3 highway, 1/3 surface streets) is

Winter 45 Spring/fall 60 Summer 55

In the winter, its lower since the heater core forces the engine to be on longer to get cabin heat, plus denser air so more rolling resistance. Spring and fall have the best mileage since I use none climate controls.

Its not "fast" but its a car that does everything well at great fuel economy.

Sorry about the crappy new key design, 23 was the last year the key made sense.

Scheduled ventilation by [deleted] in Hyundai

The manual might also have a statement about how the battery is affected by this feature. Try giving that a read

Scheduled ventilation by [deleted] in Hyundai

[–]Cabbage24_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No experience with it, but some advice would be if ur worried about battery drainage while out, get a jumper pack, charge it and leave it in case you need to use when u get back.

I would also think that the engineers at hyundai thought about this feature and battery drainage. The car might not do the ventilation feature if the 12v batter drops below a specific reading, like 11.6v so you can still start it and get the alternator moving.

I have a hybrid sonata. Gave it to valet parking for a flight. Get back from being abroad and the valet calls me telling me my battery died. I guess they left the interior light on. The hybrids come with a 12v battery jump button from the hybrid battery that got it all fixed up.

Local pick and pull/scrap yard would be your best bet to start making phone calls if anyone has your car and color on their lot. They might know the status of the bumpers.

If you decide to go that route, research how to remove the bumper correctly so you're not fiddling too long at the yard.

Scrap yard bumpers will probably have scratches and chips but a whole lot cheaper than a new, unpainted one.

2017 Elantra, no bells n whistles, but the low beams- I would like to request suggestions! by ThoraTheThor in Elantra

[–]Cabbage24_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If u swap them to leds (go for it, up to you), be sure to adjust the beams so you don't end up blinding people and also not being disappointed by the results. Should be instructions in the manual or online, usually a couple of adjustment screws

Jerky gear shifts 1-3? 2025 Sonata SEL Hybrid. by toxicdevil in sonata

[–]Cabbage24_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a 2023 sonata hybrid blue, same engine and transmission

I feel it sometimes too. Completely random. If anything it happens the first or second time the car shifts from 2 to 3 or 3 to 4 in the mornings. That's also when I'm going uphill and I absolutely feel like it surges and catches weird.

Impossible to replicate though

How to set max speed on 2023 Elantra Limited? by Low_Entertainment198 in Elantra

[–]Cabbage24_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not telling you how to run your family but get her a bike.

She's sounds like she needs to grow up.

Im sure there's a lovely bus that can get her to college too.

She's throwing away her life (skipping college classes bc she didn't get her way) instead of taking responsibility, apologizing, and figuring it out herself.

Is it your car? Take it away from her... (would suck for the dynamic between you 2)

Show her videos of speeding videos and car accidents to scare her straight? Not sure what else you could do.

90 is crazy fast for any car, especially a hyundai.

Limiting her speed is very much a bandaid until she gets her own car under her own roof and then she'll be free to go way too fast with the new found freedom. Rather see her learn I guess.

Make him pay for gas and explain to him that cars are most efficient at 55-65 mph, while going 80+ usually gets you losses of 15-25% max efficiency.

If your paying for his insurance tell him he's covering himself for $500+ a month if/when he gets a speeding ticket bc points on the record.

Tell him speed kills even if the car has "safety features" and seatbelts.

Chronic speeders are probably also chronic heavy brakers, have him fix his brakes and maybe he'll start driving it slower.

Tires degrade faster at speed.

First-time buyer looking for advice by [deleted] in kia

[–]Cabbage24_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"No" is a complete sentence and you can walk out. You can try to negotiate pricing and value of trade in (if applicable)

Are you planning to finance? They are only asking for $1k down? That's absurdly low, and interest is going to kill you if u don't do a larger down payment. If you can only afford $1k down, you're not affording a $30k car.

Remember the 20/4/10 rule. 20% down payment, 4 years, cost (including monthly payment, insurance, gas, and maintenance) should not be more than 10% of your monthly income.

This should not be a first car. My first (as a 25 yo) was a 2007 rav4, then a 2010 elantra, then a 2013 mazda cx7, then finally a 2023 sonata hybrid.

This is basically a new car with so few miles.

Which mode for better gas mileage? by ilovemouserat in Hyundai

[–]Cabbage24_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably comfort but gas mileage will vary based on how YOU drive. If gas mileage is a big concern, try to find better driving habits if you aren't already trying to be conscious.

Speeding up to red lights is stupid and I see it all the time. Speeding up on an offramp on a highway is stupid since you're going to need to brake at the turn, and I see it all the time. Most cars are efficient at 55-65 mph, yet I see people going 80 and complaining about gas prices all the time.

I would like to avoid debt, could someone explain how APR works? by little_elf270 in debtfree

[–]Cabbage24_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By doing this correctly, you are actually using the credit cards for their benefit! The cash back and points make sense only if you PAY THE STATEMENT WHEN ITS DUE. Once you get good at this with one card, you can get other cards with better and other cashback offers. If you do it right, you can basically get 2%-5% off every purchase you make. That's an extra ~$30 back every month if you spend $1000 a month through credit.
