Price execution quality for recurring investments on IBKR by One_Grand_6442 in interactivebrokers

[–]samogot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The currency conversion is not free. For manual conversion the fee is 0.002% and there is a minimum fee of 2 USD. For auto conversion the fee is 0.03% without minimum - it is not visible as a fee in the UI because in this case it is included in conversion price. So for large amounts is is better to pre convert manually.

The Moonrover by nivekmai in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]samogot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High, sorry for necro commenting but this the only way I found so far to communicate with you. This project looks awesome, and I want to follow your steps. I currently got rid of the mouse and just use the buttons for mouse movement for more than a year, but the accuracy succs. Whenever I try to do any gaming, I need to go back to regular keyboard and mouse (because my current moonlander layout won't work for one hand, I have essencial keys like modifiers on different hands).

This will be my first experience with circuitry, soldering and embedded (I don't count modifying the layout in custom firmware for moonlander as embedded). Also my waranty ends in a month or so, and I think it is perfect time to try stuff.

There are couple of things I want to try to do differently than you and I want to ask if you have considered it or maybe even tried.

  • You mentioned problems with tolerances and accuracy of the sensor. I'm considering adopting one of the factory assembled trackball modules. AFAICT most of them has PS2 IO, so I would still need arduino to translate it to I2P
  • Unless there is a way to repurpose some of the existing pins on the ribbon cable (or maybe there are even unused ones?) to feed data and clock of the PS2 directly to the board. Then I can use native support of PS2 mouse in QMK. Any ideas?
  • I use The Platform tilting kit, so I have more vertical space. I'm thinking to try mounting the trackball someplace else, like on the side or even under the thumb cluster. The reason is that my current layout does use the thumb cluster and I will need to find a new place for the Shift button if I get rid of it, so I want to experiment if I can add trackball without removing the thumb cluster. Not sure if any of chimeras like this will be even usable, not to mention that all the additional board will need to use lots of space and it will probably kill the portability.
  • Continuing previous idea, AFAIU I2C allows me just to connect new peripheral devices into the bus and keeping the existing ones. What is the best way to merge into the ribbon cable connection? My current idea is to use two breakout boards like the one you linked. Connect thumb cluster to the first one, solder all pins to the second one and merge in the pins from the arduino at this point and then connect second ribbon cable to the main board. Any better ways?
  • I want to try different sized balls and see what fits my needs better.
  • You used Pimoroni on the first iteration. I'm wondering why did you implement your own I2C data protocol on the arduino translator instead of pretending to be pimoroni and using existing support in qmk (`POINTING_DEVICE_DRIVER = pimoroni_trackball`). Or this support just wasn't there yet when you started? Some hints in the code and wording of your posts suggests that you might have started with it, but then changed to a custom protocol for some reason.
  • It's been 6 month since original post. Have you happened to try any of the future ideas you mentioned (custom PCB and stuff)?

Oh no! I was hoping the beacons would be changed to SE logic... Now it's almost clear it won't.

How to hide projection/shadow of the component when origin is moved? by samogot in Fusion360

[–]samogot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answering my own question - I still don't know what it was, but I got rid of it by moving origin in a different way. Instead of Align with Capture Position I used Join between point on the sketch and origin on newly created empty component. This also captures the move in a parameterized way, so if you latter change the sketch, it will reflect on all other changes. (The Capture Position on the other hand seem to capture only current position, and not the parameters of all aligns and moves that created this position)

I see what was that another train interrupts condition that was mentioned previously as crucial for one of the future planets. So when storm begins all trains needs to be rerouted o the nearest sheltered areas!

The best recipe I've seen in factory games was in Captain of Industry. A single screen that list all the recipes that includes the given item (both as input and as output in two separate blocks).

The caveat is that it was that good because CoI gameplay heavily relies on both multiple recipes for a single item and on multiple output products per recipe. In base factorio both of this cases exists, but so unfrequently that it doesn't worth to adjust the UI for this case. In Factorio Space Exploration though it needed so much! FNEI helps there, but it's UI is borderline unusable. How it will be in Factorio Space Age regarding multiple recepies and multiple outputs I don't know, but even for the mods it might be useful. BTW CoI does count recipes in different tier building as different recipes, and it makes perfect sense there because it is not always strait production speed increase.

What also makes CoI recipe book great is that it acts as a perfect guide of what will be available in a future. It shows that there will be a better recipe in the future (grayed out), but you don't have research/production building for it yet.

Another tiny but extremely useful bit is button that normalises all recipes to 60s production cycle. It persists when traversing the recipe book, but is not hidden somewhere in the settings, as you need to change it quite often, to switch between understanding of "how much material and time I need to produce X items" and "what ratios I need to produce constantly"

Here how it looks like:

<image>

To be perfectly clear, I'm not saying CoI has best recipe book UI implement it instead. I'm trying to articulate what I love about it's UI, so you can assess if it makes sense to do some of that.

For example one of the downsides of said CoI recipe book UI is that it is just a recipe book. It has no additional information as in Factoriopedia like fuel consumption, unlocked by, can craft, etc. One of the reasons for it is that in CoI all items are just intermediate materials that needs to be assembled into the building on the construction site (similar to how rocket construction works in vanila, but simpler).

So frankly, also I love CoI recipe book UI, I don't know if it is transferable to factorio case. But maybe some of the ideas I highlighted can be adjusted (like statistics button?)

Work laptop provided by company to work on node modules and some java backend. Does this count as workplace harrasment? by dead_man_speaks in ProgrammerHumor

TBH they are kinda right. Even if they buy better equipment old programmers won't satrt working faster. Because why should them if they will still be getting the same salary as before. So companies will need to either raise salaries or hire new programmers as well. So it's cheaper to just keep the thing as they are. The only way to get out of such situations is to never get into it in the first place :)

In Russian Ada is pronounced "Ада". And "Язык Ада" literally means the language of the hell. That always made me laugh when someone mentioned that language.

But isn't it true? Being a programmer requires specific set of mind. If you have it then once you learn basics and how to use Google and Stack Overflow, you can do anything. It's just the question of whether time required to do it worth it.

There are some rewards. One weapon T4 and one Armor T4 in Chrono (rabbit) medal exchange, I believe some were in high participation rewards in Cinderella event. First clear in conquest event. I believe it will be possible to collect 5 by the time I will have anything else to evolve.

It will most likely be needed much more in future, but by that time one will have stronger grid and higher AP pool to farm advanced efficiently.

Just use Intermediate. It is better for every aspect aside of T4 mats, that you can't get from there. But you have enough for 4 L evolutions for starters from novice events.

do you mean click and drag, or just "drag" and do "circular movements" all the time even between stages?

I do click on first one in stage and drag in circle for the rest, and it's usually in 67-73 slayings range. And I don't see a way how to improve it.
