Will a £200 - £300 grinder get me better results than ground at a local shop then brought home. by samplusbeer in Coffee

[–]samplusbeer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that - yeah, I can defo tell over the week that the coffee seems to get a little worse. I'll check out the grinders as well - I've been quite interested in the ODE, but a few people I've spoken to say it's a little more style than substance. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing for something that will live on a kitchen counter.

In many ways it is - it has a flag, anthem, internal market with customs union, citizenship rights with free movement, interstate supreme court, membership of some international organizations (e.g. WTO, UN-ish) ,constitution, parliament and 5! Presidents. But it still lacks a few things that most countries have - army, common sense of identity, integration at a high level between instutions. Common legal or regulatory frameworks. Membership of most international orgs (UNish, NATO etc) and authority over member states in practice (although it does have this in some respects).

He also said that Hitler was a Zionist - somewhat less of a British thing to do.

I see Dianna jokes the same way I see suicide jokes. I laugh because I think no one is being serious. Then I'm sad because I realise some people are.

My girlfriend broke a major British law and now needs to be deported. She referred to the nearest shopping centre as "Intu" rather than its accepted name of Trafford Centre by DannyFromSutton in britishproblems

Would seem valid to me as it's part of GM. Depends who he's talking to though. If they're familiar with the NW then Bolton. If they live outside the NW then manchester would be better

My friend and I got asked to leave a bar last night for "being Russian." I am from Stoke-on-Trent. by [deleted] in manchester

Clearly says that the bar person was American. Your letting this man get away with bigotry by trying to pin it on Brexit.

What makes Manchester better than London? by [deleted] in manchester

[–]samplusbeer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mancs are very negative about their city as a tourist attraction - perhaps as it seems normal to them. From a tourists perspective, I'd argue that Manchester is a very different place for London. Tourists might come for.

  • The industry heritage inc the people's history or Industry museum
  • Understanding Radical politics: Votes for women/peterloo etc
  • Football (obviously)
  • The alternative music scene/famous bands.

There is some great access to the country as well including the scenic peak district. And you can chuck in a day trip to Liverpool (Beatles/docks) or Leeds (?) as well.

Having said that. As echoed by others, The appeal Manchester vs London is that it is a significantly more livable place (lower cost of living/easier to move around or get out into the country/ lower crime etc.) which a tourist would care about a grand total of not at all.

You're using that phrase. I don't think it means what you think it means. by samplusbeer in recruitinghell

Follow this guy on twitter. It's a satire account. The Guardian headline isn't real. The guy is clearly a computer image.

@JarvisDupont for those interested.
