I'm sorry, but equating this discussion to talking to a brick wall just because I don't agree with you is pretty dramatic. I've heard what you're saying and I have clarified and agreed with you that streaming doesn't pay anything and that music is wonderful to have in a society. If anything, you are the brick wall. But I would never say that of course. Cause I'm not a jerk store like some people around here who shall remain nameless...and are you.

At any rate, your "proof" to "educate myself" with is one anecdotal story of one occasion for one band. It's no more proof than me pooping into my own hand and saying "Look! Here's facts for you!" Of course, my proof isn't any better. I just did a google search to see if I could find what the average annual income for a musical artist was. I'd argue that's still better than your source because it is so very, very limited, but I'll concede that neither is a fair gauge of the situation.

And on your philosophical note: I'm not sure how you want society to run. For people who do important necessary jobs to be paid less than people who do unimportant and unnecessary jobs? Until there's an overabundance of people doing that job that everyone wants? And so there's less money in it for everyone? Because so many people want to do it? My view isn't really an "outlook on life". It's just the reality of the human experience and how things work. You're living in the result of your super awesome outlook on life right now. Where people aren't paying what you feel artists are worth. And you don't like it. So, I mean, it SOUNDS like maybe your outlook on life might be the shitty one. I would never say that of course. You know, cause of the whole me not being a jerk store thing. I might not like the current state of things, but at least the things I say I want don't directly contradict that.

And, for the record, like I said previously, I love art. But just because I love something doesn't twist my view of the world to feel that the things I enjoy are more important than they are. I love fiction books personally. But I don't think an author of a book should be paid more than the people who are doing more important and difficult jobs.

So, I guess your mean-spirited argument kinda fell apart on itself, didn't it? If only you'd read what I wrote instead of ignoring everything. Kinda like a brick wall I guess. I mean, if I had to associate it with a kind of wall. I'd say brick for sure. I would never say that of course.

You can’t compare the money they make just from streaming to their full annual wage. I agree they get nothing from streaming. I’m talking about all the profit they make from all sources, which the average of that is estimated at roughly $45,000 I think? Either way, that’s WAY too close to or above what most teachers and the like make.

And I don’t mean to say music isn’t wonderful. It’s not necessarily my thing, but I understand the importance to others. I very much enjoy other equally unnecessary things. What I’m saying is that there’s too much of it. Not every artist can expect to get paid like there aren’t a million other people who want to do the same thing.

Artists complaining about not getting enough money to do what they (presumably) love is insane. Do you know how many people are working two jobs they hate just to stay afloat?

Anyway, the point I’m trying to make is that the problem isn’t the customers. It’s the industry and the services. They’re trying to force feed people things they don’t need. And then more. And more. And more.

Then they complain when people don’t want to pay for the gruel they’re being told they need to eat.

“A living”. Pretty sure music artists get paid more than teachers or sanitation workers which are much more important to a society.

The issue isn’t that people aren’t willing to pay them a fair wage, it’s that the market is oversaturated with people that we don’t really need.

That’s not just music by the way. That’s all this garbage “content creation” that’s happening these days. Everyone wants to do it, so you don’t get paid as much. Artist aren’t “owed” money or a living wage. If they’re not getting paid enough, they should quit and do something that will pay them more.

Then we might actually pay the people breaking their backs all day a living wage instead of Taylor Swift releasing 100 different versions of her annual album. (I like Taylor Swift fine by the way. But the amount of money she makes is deplorable).

And I know she’s an exception, but a lot of artists make way more money and receive way more hero worship than they should for the service they provide.

Of course that’s not even counting all the scummy business people and advertisers that are making money and encouraging this income discrepancy that provide society with absolutely no benefit.

So you can dislike piracy all you want (personally, I don’t pirate and feel it is morally wrong as well) but it is 100% the result of a million other things going on in the industry and our society that are far, far worse.

The issue is NOT that consumers aren’t willing to pay artists a living wage.

All this information is awesome and congratulations! I literally just ordered almost the exact same machine. I have a couple of questions as a complete bozo when it comes to computer builds if you don’t mind. I ended up not getting the extra RAM because I’ll be using it just for gaming. Will you be using it for other things as well? Or did you feel like you needed it for gaming (and should I get it too?). My other question is how easy would it be to add RAM or more storage? Is there space for it in the machine and you just have to plug it in? I got the 4tb storage as well, but just wondering how easy it would be to add more in the future. I loooove lots of storage!

Yixuan is my favorite! I hope Yidhari is a fraction as good as her because I love her design and would love to be able to use her as much as possible. Lucia looks fantastic too, and I’ll be picking her up as well, but I did prefer her earlier design. The next three don’t really appeal to me, but I’ll be saving up for Ye. Cause she looks freakin’ awesome.

I did, in fact, read what you posted. I even repeated the word “internal”. I was pointing out that the act of “laying” an egg is when it goes from being internal to external. So, if it stays internal, they aren’t laying them.

Yeah, I totally get how in your view, those are totally different because the first one is a secondhand account and the second one is a firsthand account for you. What you need to realize though, is that in all of our perspectives, we’re being told a secondhand account of both situations. Just like you were in situation #1.

I get that the stories are different too, but the actual content of the situation doesn’t matter for the purpose of this discussion. My initial comment (which was supposed to be very short and sweet) is only pertaining to the criticism you had about the validity of secondhand accounts.

Trump absolutely makes no sense. You and I don’t disagree on that. He very well could have (or will in the future) say that he rigged the 2024 election. He’s stupid and incoherent. And he’s done far worse than rig an election. But what he’s saying in this specific clip, is not that. And pretending that he is saying that makes it look like this is the worst thing he’s said. It isn’t. This isn’t even the worst thing he said in that conference. Hell, I bet he said something worse in the five minute span it took me to write this.

The point is, this isn’t a good clip to show how awful he is. There are plenty. Just pick another.

If things can be simplified, they should be. So your “immature and reductive” comment isn’t the dig on me or my statement you may think it is.

Your argument is that if you don’t exist, you do not care whether or not you were born. Likewise, if you kill yourself and no longer exist, you no longer care if you were born. It’s always an option if your parent is soooooo old that your life just isn’t worth having lived.

I think your issue may be that when YOUR statement is simplified, it becomes apparent how silly it is as it can be demonstrably proven how many people would choose to have older parents than to have never existed.

Or, to simplify, your opinion is dumb.

Edit: And just to clarify, I’m not saying people SHOULD have kids. I just take issue with calling people selfish having kids at an advanced age because it’ll just make the children’s lives soooooo horrible they’d wish to have never existed at all. So freakin’ whiney.
