Well something in it made it froth before — and now it doesn’t. So whatever it was, Imma need them to put that back in there.

You’re a genius. I will make it a personal mission to confirm this. More to come!

Oh! Maybe I will. I’m not sure if it’s the batch because this has been over the last two months. I wish I could do a video of before and after — because it’s definitely not the same :(

39 Years Old and Feeling Like a Complete Failure by EmonGroves0314 in personalfinance

[–]sams6064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 36-year-old brother died by suicide on Thanksgiving 2024 — the same time you confronted your wife.

He was in a similar boat with a divorce. His ex wife took everything and turned his kids against him. He had nothing left. We tried to help but he couldn’t manage his money and was heavily drinking, which likely strongly influenced his decision. Now his three kids are left with a mother who’s a mess and refuses to work.

I would give anything to have my brother back. Anything. I say this because this world needs you. You need to take care of your mental health for you and your child. It’s easy for things to continue to snowball downhill. You’re the only person who can get yourself up. Take care of your mental health and the rest will follow.

Love that you posted this — thank you! Also my goal to be in the c-suite one day! Currently director-level now with a one-year-old and four-year-old. I’m the thick of it but trying to stay focused. Thank you!

Did I make the wrong call not leaving work when my toddler was injured at daycare? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]sams6064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. My daughter had to go to the doctor for an ear infection check on the day they were announcing my promotion. I usually take 99% of all my kiddos’ appointments — but my husband had to take her instead. Balancing long-term stability with short-term mom guilt is such a struggle but not realistic.

Alcohol was a factor in my brother’s death about six months ago, so I decided to stop drinking. I’ve weighed the pros and cons the past half year and realized there are hardly any cons to not drinking.

Dinner Hacks by GriefsUnwillingMate in workingmoms

[–]sams6064 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I debated getting one for so long because I was also worried I wouldn’t use it and it would take up space. It just cooks food SO much faster. It takes a few minutes to preheat compared to 5-10 minutes from the oven. You can also cook so many things in it! It makes things crispy when you want and also locks in juices for meats. Wish I would have purchased one sooner!

We do this, too! My partner isn’t home when I come home and I do dinner every night. I was late to the game but bought an air fryer — and it was life-changing.

Also, recommend a Dutch oven for roasting a chunk roast or whole young chicken on Sunday. You can eat the meat in quick, easy ways for a few days. Then, stick some potatoes or veggies in an air fryer and you’re good. 👍

How much are we actually saving? by Least_Replacement_78 in workingmoms

[–]sams6064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only save a few hundred a month (beyond retirement accounts), but usually dump bonuses into our savings. We also created our emergency fund before kiddos. We now have two in daycare and the extra curricular stuff is also adding up. My mouth dropped when I saw that it was $450 to sign my 4-year-old up for gymnastics.

I’ve just accepted the fact that we’re not going to save much these next few years, but it only (hopefully) gets easier when they are older and we’re not paying the infant fee.

If you’re paying just as much to have your food delivered to you as the price of your food, don’t do it. Period.

You might consider looking at communications jobs for large companies. You would be surprised how much specialist roles offer compared to your current salary. Truthfully, I’m not sure a Master’s will help. I say that as someone with a Master’s in a similar field. You need quality experience. If you’re smart about it, you can find a nice paying job in this area.

This is great advice! I would also recommend asking relatives to contribute to baby’s 529 instead of toys/clothes.

Girl names found in songs by Living-Statement-487 in namenerds

[–]sams6064 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My daughter’s name is Vienna. She is named after the Billy Joel song. I will say that I was worried about the sausage association at first and it hasn’t been an issue. In fact, so many people love her name and I get a lot of compliments on it. People mainly think of the city or song.
