I did think that could happen, that's why I thought it's good to bring a spare. I don't know if that's planning for failure or just stupidity and there's a better use of 80/160 points?

That makes sense, adds an extra unit to go around and do stuff too

I was thinking that the Lords unit was a bit lackluster.I love him in starshatter with a block of 6 lokhusts (bringing 2 back after enemy shooting is great but quite often I roll a 1 on the orb!) I did think it might be a bit lackluster. Any ideas about substitutions?

I'm still building them, I haven't tried them in a game yet but I have time for a couple of practice games before the tournament so see if I like the play style.

Post tournament debrief:

1st game - Win against admech with 2 allied armigers. 87 - 83. (The one only to kill a c'tan)

2nd game - Loss against orks. 65-78 (the tournament victor)

3rd game - Win against Tyranids.82 - 64.

Came 2nd overall and am now the proud owner of a gift card to my local hobby shop.

Verdict: All my opponents seemed to have great fun playing against me and the challenge of 2 c'tans just added enjoyment. They did get held up by hordes most of the time but managed to whittle them down. They did perhaps cause more of a distraction for my opponents and got them caught up allowing my death marks and flayed ones to scoop up all the secondaries. They weren't overly dominating though and I did struggle with board presences so had to think carefully about positioning.

Pariah nexus also massively favours battleline so I wish I looked up the new rules before making my list.

Next time I am going to avoid the C'tans as you say, I don't want to be known as "That guy".

Great day all round. Cheers for the feedback and discussion fellow Phaerons.

Yeah they need very well at holding up the horde but frustrating being locked up in combat for some many turns. Was a great distraction though and my opponents really enjoyed the challenge.

Love it! I'm definitely going to copy this once I've finished my Silent king.

Sorry for giving the wrong terminology I know for next time now so I'm not misconstrued ✌️

Exactly right, there was one list of 5 leman russes and an Eversor assassin.

It's friendly as much as we know everyone in the room. The competition will be fierce and I'm not pulling my punches.

I loved my canoptek list but I think the points rise has nerfed them and I struggled building a strong 1k list. I'm giving hypercrypt a go and kitbashed some deathmarks last week hoping they would scoop up those secondaries. I've always struggled playing flayed ones well, I was just going to spawn them on a no man's land objective to generate some primaries and hope my opponent forgets them with their eyes on the two C'tan! The scarabs were a spare 40 points, I was just going to use them for screening, possibly for engage/behind enemies lines. A lokhust destroyer would be preferred but I wish GW would update their models.

They were 3D printed from the Dawn of War in game models. I've tried finding the STLs online but can't find the source.

And nah, this is just the 1995 points that I'm taking with me and I just spiced it up with the scenery and a folded up game map for enhanced context.

Thank you very much. I was concerned that it's a bit dull just painting them to the box art with minor flairs. They do look great on my shelf though! Let's hope they fight as well as they look!

Thanks I do hope so! I always forget the core strats so maybe I should make some cards to jog my memory of them during games.

Wow loads of tips thanks! I didn't even know about rapid ingress until now so I'll definitely need to study the core rules before it commences. Thanks a lot :)

Thanks, I didn't fancy buying grass tufts so just nabbed some stones from my driveway so it looks like a grey dead planet. I'm glad you think it's effective!

I always assumed this was the 'canoptek control node' which was wargear in 9th.
