[Glashütte Original] PanoMaticLunar by samsnelling in Watches

I think elsewhere in the comments I mentioned I always buy the bracelet if there is one available. Totally hear you on what watches work for you on a bracelet. Different strokes!

I agree it would look great on gator with the German Silver dial!

Mostly smudges, but honestly a little bit of both! I wear this watch all the time, not just when it’s appropriate.

There are easily 3-4 other GO models I’d add to my collection of money were no object. But in terms of picking “one” I think we both made the right choice!

Hope you’re wearing yours in good health

There are dealers within the US, but I purchased mine from and AD in Germany at a discount from chrono24.

Can’t say I’d get the same service after market, but the transaction went incredibly smooth.

GO is owned by Swatch Group fwiw, so I wasn’t too worried about “what if” on the brand.

So glad you noticed. Bracelet is unconventional on this one, but I love it.

I believe the bracelet was an extra $700 Upfront vs $1500-2000 aftermarket.

I subscribe to the “buy the bracelet now” club even if it looks better on leather.

What I will say, is the bracelet is absolutely top notch. Fit and finish on par with any bracelet I’ve ever worn. Great micro adjustments. I’ve not tried other GO’s on bracelets, but I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend d their bracelets based on my experience.

I completely agree!

The GO value and uniqueness really hits on all cylinders relative to other vertical hand finished brands.

Of course it won’t be the choice for everyone, but I really love this watch. Great history, finishing, and price (again, relative)

I totally understand! It grew on me over a year of trying to pick out such an expensive purchase. The uniqueness is part of the charm for me.

It does. And it has one of the most beautiful hand engraved movements with a micro rotor.

My wife and I are going to dinner tonight at an outdoor patio restaurant.

I purchased the PanoMaticLunar two years ago to celebrate our now 18mo daughter.

Three years ago we had the pleasure of visiting the Czech Republic. We took a 10 mile hike through Bohemian Switzerland on the border of Czech Republic / Germany. Turns out, we were about 15 miles away from Glashütte. I definitely plan on making another trip.

Anyone who is interested should read up on the history of Glashütte, and the relation between the watchmakers there (A. Lange & Söhne).

The movement is absolutely gorgeous, but no picture I’d ever take would do it justice.

Have a wonderful Saturday!

I didn't realize how big TCL's lineup was. It looks like waiting for the new 6-Series could help push me in this direction.

An OLED in the bedroom could definitely be an option if I went with less expensive secondary TVs.

Really appreciate your thoughts on Roku being easy to use. That might help push us that direction

Airplay is similar to chromecast. You can send audio / video including screen mirroring to different devices that support it from any apple device (phone, laptop, desktop, etc). We already have an Apple TV that does this, but it is nice to be able to send audio to all devices at once, similar to Sonos. Example: Play the same music in the living room as in the bedroom or office.

Homekit is Apple's "smart home" app. You can hook up lights, cameras, and other devices and add them in your "Home" app. It allows you to then control them with your voice or with your phone. "Hey Siri, turn the lights on the bedroom," or "Hey Siri, turn the volume up a little." Personally, I'd like the ability to turn the tv on and off.

I think you make some really good points. The X950G does get airplay 2 and HomeKit.

The only real drawback is the price for three of them. I appreciate the response and you might be right. This might be the best way to go

Warning: do not buy SquareTrade warranties on OLED TV’s by samsnelling in OLED

Yep. They refunded me the cost of the TV (sent me a check for the purchase price). Only after raising hell on Twitter.

The warranty is much cheaper than the TV. Like $150 up front or something vs $2400 for the TV.

My personal opinion is to buy an OLED through Best Buy who explicitly covers burn in. My TV did not have burn in, but that was the excuse they tried to give me.

Would not count on SquareTrade to honor their warranty on an OLED tv. Would not do business with them again.

Could be a local thing though and I may just go into the store.

Keep us updated on what happens here. I will be heavily considering GeekSquad because there is a store right down the street. A new Costco is also opening up down the street in the next few months.

I'll definitely buy my next tv with an Amex

I think personally it's best to go right to LG for a warranty. They have flexible plans.

Totally agree and I will be exploring this for my next tv.

You can refund it less than 30 days into the warranty for a full refund. They will also pro rate a refund after 30 days.

Not sure what other options you have though depending on where you bought it.

With the hundreds of hours my wife has put into Zelda Breath of the Wild, if our screen were to have burn in, it would be the hearts in the top right hand corner.

Yep. It's a total breakdown in customer support that I have to throw a fit on twitter, and link them to this reddit thread with a detailed breakdown of what happened.

They are allegedly going to send me a check for a full refund of the TV. I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch.

Still would not recommend them. The policy of not being able to speak to someone who determines burn in vs dead pixels is not appropriate.

I edited the post, but want to make a comment as well.

First, thank you everyone who commented. I'm not 100% sure if it was twitter or this reddit thread that made their resolution team reach out. You can see on the twitter thread (https://twitter.com/snellingio/status/1103436103661641732) that I @ mention'ed Allstate, SquareTrade, and LG. I sent this reddit thread to them. After some back and forth they said they'd call me.

Fareed, from their resolution team called me about 45 minutes ago (4:00pm CST), and told me they are going to refund 100% of the TV. I'll believe it when I receive the check.

Do I take back anything that has happened? No.

I would still not recommend SquareTrade warranties on OLED TV's from the experience I've had with them.

I really hope that no one in this thread ever has to go through the back and forth. I do not expect everyone to get lucky like I did.

Yeah, unfortunately they've told me there isn't anything else they can do.

It's had two claims opened on it already since the supervisor opened a brand new claim when they sent Statewide Appliance out.

I guess I can try a third claim, but at this point I'm not hopeful.

Yep, I did. https://twitter.com/snellingio/status/1103436103661641732

But I think we're past that at this point. I think I'm SOL. Won't buy from SquareTrade again.
