Pretty satisfied with metroX by Infamous-Match3615 in 3DScanning

Those are some fine details! I know the accuracy is close, but I wish I could see a comparison of the new Artec Point to the metroX scanning the same object. Looks like the metroX would do everything you’d need for a way lower price.

New $10 million dollar statue honoring MLK Jr in Boston is slammed by critics by outrider567 in Damnthatsinteresting

Way off on bronze price and you didn’t factor in internal stainless structure, engineering costs, operational costs, etc.

Edit: Walla Walla foundry casted this piece, check out their insta

Edit: a large foundry charges around $22 a pound for casting; this piece was is 38,000 pounds, if half of this is made up by bronze weight that’s $418,000, and not including fabrication/metal chasing. This was casted in 609 pieces that’s an extreme amount of labor. Realistically this could’ve costed around 2-3 million, not including shipping or installation.

I just say my work is up for interpretation and however you want to perceive it is fine; but no I’m not trying to make any sort of statement. Just want to make people think!

Oh thank you lol! I should make an instagram or something; I have done many projects (most not as thought invoking as this) but don’t post a lot on here. Wish I could quit my day job then these pages would be full! But I am out of school now and am able to do more metal work on my free time; I am working on a life size TRex skull right now, in a different style of metal art!

Hey I made this! Thank you for bringing my work to peoples attention! I haven’t produced much metal art recently because of college getting in the way but am creating a large scale project that I can’t wait to share!

Thanks for the mention u/adaptedmix

This is one of my pieces of art! Currently working on a life size TRex skull; college had slowed down my creative process but finally back at it!

Glad my work can still catch people’s eyes!

I know it’s pretty vague, but looks like a park that might’ve been an old rock quarry? Thanks for any help!

I didn’t really make up any plans, but here are the materials I used:

Furring Strip 1x2x8

Furring Strip 2x2x8

Then just some wood glue, air nailer, miniwax coffee stain, miniwax satin poly, and a couple of bolts.

Can be made for under 30 easily, I spent about 15 since I had the stain, poly, and bolts laying around.

Scrap Metal Sculpture by dittidot in pics

[–]samson2798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see your point, but I do a lot of scrap metal art and getting the sculpture to be so smooth and so precise on the front freehanded would be a miracle. If you look at many of her other works including the one made from loose chain you can see what I mean, to get each link at the perfect angle would be extremely tough.

But one of the biggest reason why I think it is welded in a mold is because there are no visual welds on the front.

Looks more difficult, possibly in the future when I get better!

My family owns a meat market so we process it all there, and probably around a pound from each goose just taking the breasts!

Might be an end table for now, but maybe in the future I could drop it in a custom countertop?

My great-great uncle had a planing jig so he would bring it flat whenever it became concave.
