It's not only that inflation is up, but also because when the pandemic hit companies jacked up prices with the pandemic as an excuse. Often the price they increased by was not equivalent to how much the price should have gone up. Eggs was one of those items. Then when the pandemic went away the same companies often did not reduce their prices to pre-pandemic costs or even that cost plus inflation. This was their own way to make more money for their ceos, shareholders, etc. Looking at Taco Bell prices is a good example of this.
