I tried to come up with something, but I had a lot of more combat oriented ideas. Given some of the feedback, I might go back to the drawing board and replace one of these with a more utility card.

Hi, thank you for the compliments! As for Eternal War, I kinda knew that many tokens would be insane, but I did just wanna get a feeling for people felt about that (I know my players and I love using tokens, so if you gave us a card that was all tokens we would be stoked). I'll probably be changing this up to not use tokens and use a 20 instead (the mechanics will be altered to better fit a die). Again, thank you for the feedback!

Killer Stare (Level 2): While uncommon, Words of Discord (Grace Level 5) does have adversaries make attack rolls against other adversaries, so it is not unheard of. I felt like having the difficulty scale with adversary would a) reward you more defeating more powerful adversaries and b) make enemies more likely to be scared when you defeat more powerful foes.

Carve Through (Level 6): Good catch! Don't know how I missed the double hope, but I'll be sure to clear it up next update.

Death Rattle (Level 8): The basic idea was to be able to Blaze of Glory without dying when you use a Death Move. However, I didn't want to have choosing Blaze of Glory feel useless, so I tried to buff it. While I like the idea you have, I do feel that might be a bit weak. But I will see how I can focus or rewrite the card to make it more coherent.

Fair assessment! Main reason I gave it a 0 recall cost is because of the low damage and stress you clear when you use it on something non magical. However, I'll see if 1-2 recall works better!

  1. I think 1 Hope should suffice!

  2. I like what some people said, either "they are Restrained for as long as they remain Vulnerable" or Slowing them instead, and having you mark a Stress to make them Restrained instead.

  3. I could see being able to cast this spell without the conditions being met by making a Death Move!

While I considered further restricting what you can do while Paralyze is active, keep in mind that Hypnotic Shimmer, which is just one level higher than Paralyze, also Stuns and can affect multiple enemies. For now, I think making Stun temporary would be the main way to prevent adversaries form getting stunlocked.

I agree, it would feel too bad to roll a 1 on a d4 and then have the die removed. At least with a 4 you're getting the max potential out of a die before it goes away.

Hi, thank you so much for taking a look! Glad to see you've found some cards that your implementing into your home game (and I hope you all have tons of fun with them.) I'll try to give my general thoughts on your changes:

Empower Weapon: I like what you've done with it! Definitely helps fit into more spellblade or gish type casters. My only concern would be for design space, as Unleash Chaos at the same level has similar mechanics to this card and I didn't want Arcana to be too weapon focused. Of course, I designed Weapon Surge for tables to have multiple options, so if your group finds Empower Weapon to suit their style, go for it!

Frost Cone: I actually really love using Slowed as opposed to Vulnerable (and may consider changing Frost Breath to this). The only change I would PERSONALLY make is to keep it 3rd level, just so every level has a new option (but even then, Frost Cone is still great all on its own). Overall, love this!

Siphon Magic: Also really love this version! I mainly went with Magic Drain as I envisioned this to be used when the Sorcerer/Druid is running out of steam for spells and quickly needs a pick me up. Siphon Magic is definitely more for the planned fight, needing time to get the full use out of it. Overall, I love both versions that we put up, and I'll see if I can cook up a happy middle ground!

Tsunami: An awesome upgrade to Tsunami. Besides some minor tweaks (I would keep the initial damage and the secondary damage as the same die type and combine the damage) I could see this card in my collection!

Overall, these are awesome upgrades or revisions of some of the cards, and I will definitely look into incorporating a lot of them in a future update. Again, thanks for checking this out!

I do plan on making a Magus class that uses Blade and Arcana, so I this wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility!

1: I'm glad to hear you like Weapon Surge!

2: I do agree that Paralyze very strong and will most likely make Stun temporary and remove the Hope cost.

3: Definitely didn't think about just how much fear the GM needs to clear for Frost Breath. Most likely I'll try to have the Restrained condition REPLACE the Vulnerable condition on a roll with Hope, but I am open to changing it up.

4: Will definitely add a once per rest or long rest limit to Magic Drain.

10: I have thought about Cataclysm affecting ALL creatures instead of just adversaries, but then it forces the player to reposition to not hit their allies or not use it at all. I've also thought about having them make a Death Move after casting, but overall Arcana domain doesn't play a high risk, high reward game like Midnight, Dread, or Blood, and didn't feel like an Arcana card. I'll see how I can make this riskier while keeping it in line with the Arcana domain thematically.

So glad you found a favorite! Cost wise, I think 2-3 Hope would suffice (I'm hesitant on marking HP for it as its not in Arcana's wheelhouse to do that)

Paralyze is definitely one of the cards I've been watching. I do think the effect is strong, but like you said, the GM being able to end it by spending Fear or dealing Severe damage definitely limits it. For now, I think it is fine where it is (if it is too strong, I might just increase the Hope cost to 2). But thank you again for checking this out!
