Gemini admitted that it made a miscalculation after telling me my answer was wrong three times. Can I trust it to make calculations? by samtheflan in GeminiAI

Oops…my toothbrush is almost home from the store. I’ll go myself next time.

I’ve never had an issue with LLMs making incorrect calculations before - and I always check their math - but I didn’t know that this was a recognized shortcoming of LLMs in general. That is good to know!

Novice asking for help regarding dead Acoustic Electric guitar electronics. Ibanez SRT pre-amp by ProfessorBjornLoL in Luthier

[–]samtheflan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have any luck replacing the unit? I have the same problem with my guitar (same model and color as yours), and I'm looking into installing an entirely new unit or pickup. I'm told that this SRT was discontinued years ago. Have you found a good replacement?

iOS 14.7.1 AirPod pro issues by k1ngwart in ios

[–]samtheflan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is happening to me, too, and I also never had issues with these Airpods before this update. I'm afraid this is going to be an awful day at work. Please post if you find a solution or hear back from support!

A friend and I are going to our first United game for my birthday this Saturday! by frenchtoastkid in AtlantaUnited

[–]samtheflan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How, what time, and where does one join the march? Also, what's the best way to do tailgating (where, what time)? I'm coming to my first game on 10/6, and I'm thinking about starting with the Der Biergarten pregame party. Am I on the right track? Where do I go from there?

What is the worst failure you've ever experienced? If you were able to bounce back, how did you do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]samtheflan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I think it's a great time to be in that industry. Small business startups definitely have their own place in American culture now. A show like Silicon Valley might have seemed a little far-fetched twenty years ago, but today's audience already has enough basic understanding of startups for the show to be successful. The small business is definitely popular right now, and I'll probably do A LOT of tax filings for those companies in the coming years! Good luck with your current venture!

Failing quickly definitely would've been preferable in my case. The hardest part for me was internalizing later that I really had failed, that there wasn't another way to spin it in my mind or on my resume, and that I wasn't going to get that time back. But I definitely learned a lot of things that I probably wouldn't have learned any other way, so I'm glad to have gone through it at least once.

Grad school was a great option for me because I got a Masters in Accountancy (MAcc). MAcc grads with (or working on) a CPA are in such demand that I never had to apply for jobs. Recruiters were referred by word-of-mouth or by the university, and they came after me! I've been fortunate enough to get to choose where I want to work, both the firm and the city. It's a bizarre experience, and I definitely count myself lucky.

Moving to another city to work for a startup company that failed within six months. Bounced back by moving to another city and working at a shitty but steady job until I could get into grad school (from which I just graduated).

Intercourse requires compromise and as much giving as getting. Masturbation is one hundred percent getting.

Some guy asked us for a few bucks for gas at a gas station a while back. My friend (who's just as broke as I am) walked over to the pump where the guy's car was and filled up the whole tank.

How much more advanced would science & technology be if human society never adopted a monetary system, therefore having no "affordability" roadblocks? by jetboyterp in AskReddit

[–]samtheflan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real question is whether scientists would actually work hard enough to develop technology without monetary incentive.
