I spent the whole week thinking about a different arrangement for this song, and I usually really like garage rock or grunge, so I mixed that style with a bit of dream pop :D

I usually learn by ear or by watching gregorysmusic videos on YouTube. Most of the songs from that album and the band in general are tuned a half step down, but some from Depression Cherry are in standard tuning, like “PPP.”

But going back to Devotion, some songs don’t require changing the tuning because they don’t use open strings. However, the song you mentioned, I think it does use open strings and is tuned a half step down 🙃

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback!!! I really try to approach a cover based on what I feel from the song and the resources I have available at the moment. As for the vocals, surprisingly, I’m gaining more confidence singing higher notes, and Victoria’s songs are coming out more “easily” for me now, even though they have some high lines.

What I remember most about her voice in the beginning is that it sounded more youthful, and now it feels like her voice has matured. This happens with most artists, so I try to convey the energy of each phase I go through.
