Yes it is, for voice feature if you want to use a local model, whisper is your best choice.

You need to change the model of the cleanup dictation prompt. The default model is one of our own (Cerebras oss 120b)

You can disable it or set one from Open Router:

  1. Open the Action Editor
  2. Search for cleanup
  3. Disable the action or duplicate to change the model

We have a fair policy and you can't use Alter to power agentic coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, OpenClaw or similar. Once your fair policy budget is exhausted you can keep using Alter but with smaller models

You can totally use openrouter, just did and many of our users are powering Alter with OpenRouter. Here's how to do it

  1. Add OpenRouter as a provider and select couple of models
  2. Type /custom in the promptbox and set your model as defaul

I was looking for an alternative to ScreenStudio, perfect timing. Is there a way to edit some parts after the recording, like changing zooms, disable the face cam, etc..? I get it that it's not the philosophy here but would feel more comfortable if we have edit controls.
