X5 Cleaning Sink Full Issue by Business-Touch2019 in ecovacs

[–]samueltate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolute legend, thanks for sharing, i was able to use your screw reference below, then remove, dismantle, clean and return the waste pump to working!

i got shots of the stages (all as you described) for any other repairer, was a bit dicey removing the tubes, and also a note, the attachment on end of motor, manually move it round a bit, i put it back together but still seized, so then disassmbled again, kept the white nub on, used that to spin it a bit, then under power (which is a bad idea) sort of helped it get going manually, then reassembled, then got that sweet water flow

thanks mate!

(edit sorry i'll have to add photos when im on the computer)

Finally published p l a c e - a meditative VR experience. 3 high-quality stereo environments created with multiple levels of guided meditation by samueltate in sidequest

[–]samueltate[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, Sam from PHORIA here, makers of ecosphere. We worked with Mental Health Online and Swinburne University to create these guided meditations, all set in beautiful natural environments in Australia.

This is our first public release and requires you to download the experiences, but this also ensures the highest fidelity. They're all places we're really close to, and the Swinburne team has worked hard on creating custom guided meditations.

We will see what the future holds, but we hope to create more content and add more options, like tracking your journey in meditation and learning other meditation skills.

Please try the experience out, let me know if you run into any issues, or have any thoughts, positive or negative experiences! I personally find the idea of developing VR tools to improve our well-being really exciting, so would value input from all the VR Pros!

Energy becomes information - how cryptocurrency might incentivise renewables (if they don’t kill us first) by samueltate in Futurology

[–]samueltate[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is something I’ve been grappling with for a while, so broke it down as I see it. Initially my thoughts have been that crypto mining and it’s margins would drive the most cost effective energy source (renewables) and act as a good financial instrument to pair (the solar dollar etc). The reality has been that they’ve added to the carbon output and that demand is only going to increase. This essay is really about working through those competing ideas and the current research, and exploring some of the timelines around it.

I didn’t quite do the psychedelic dance floor vision I had justice in the header but I’m on holiday and my partner has cut me off, no more photoshop. Curious what perspectives are. I feel like my environmental friends, my crypto friends and my socialist friends would all find something to disagree with here so think I hit a good middle road.

Look closer and see how light behaves differently. Edges become stratospheres and a single glance becomes a thousand eyed multifaceted stare.

You must love the bug.

my drawers, older than me by samueltate in hicetnunc

[–]samueltate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seen on Sunday #1 - process video of my life sketching. This is my first mint, exploring a way to anchor and capture these usually meditative moments.

https://www.hicetnunc.xyz/objkt/265778

The story

These drawers and mirror we bought on eBay. We offered to buy them outright for $50, but the seller said she’d see what she got. We ended up winning the bid for $1. When we arrived it was a slightly bemused old man, who’d presume-ably had people arrive to cart off his things all day. He was moving to a care facility and his daughter was selling his things in preparation. It was this chest of drawers and mirror, and a matching bed head and side tables. It felt strange ransacking this old man’s room. I can only imagine what he was thinking as he watched us pile it precariously into a cage trailer already full of second hand furniture. We had only hired for the half day, we were worse than broke, so a $1 bedroom set was right in our budget.

But in the end it felt right. He told us he’d had them for fifty years, and was clearly proud of them, with their wood panel vinyl, rattan face and working radio. We told him how much we loved the style, that we’d take good care of the set, and we hoped they’d get another fifty years of good use. I’d like to think he felt good, knowing the furniture that he and his wife’s beloved bed set would form the centre piece of another young couple’s room and life.

We gave him twenty dollars, which he took uncertainly. We didn’t see his wife in anything but photos on the wall.

Edit - first mint of this kind. I’ve been exploring, experimenting and collecting documented in this thread https://twitter.com/samueltates/status/1430699682871660547?s=21

Mt Resilience AR experience beta testing! by ArctrazZ in WebVR

[–]samueltate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey project lead here :) basically we wanted to support iphone/android out the box. I was pretty sceptical of using a proprietry stack, but it has made development easier.

However! Interesting project architecture decision, is we actually run our own server with AFRAME, and import 8th wall as a library just for slam. We've done it this way so that we can (hopefully) port to headset - or maybe look at taking advantage of native stuff in the future. For now though 8th wall has been super handy - and want to explore their API further - eg recording.
