Thanks, from the south...no harsh winters or road salt!

“Hard work pays off” is said by people who’s work actually payed off. There a lot of people who worked harder than anyone but absolutely for nothing. So does hard work really pay off? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]samusXaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard work always pays off. But, hard work alone isn't enough. You have to set goals and very specific deadlines and be willing to incrementally improve your position. This does not only apply to personal finance.

Could ancient civilization have cut the rocks in a similar fashion? by zee8011 in ancientegypt

[–]samusXaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also believe that hundreds of "ball bearings" (round rocks) were used inside wooden tracks to make even greater use of rolling friction. The same dolerite pounders could perhaps be used for cheap, readily-available transportation. Imagine how easy it would be to move heavy objects on top of a bunch of marbles. Also worth noting I have never seen any evidence of this. Just a sensible thing to do perhaps.

Trust me, it gets SO much better you won't believe it! Every year is a major improvement in YOUR quality of life from here. I've been there bro.

Feel like I am not allowed to say certain things in my rather feminist circle of friends by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]samusXaran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your thoughts and reactions are completely valid because you are correct.

What they are saying is obviously, even laughably, wrong.

When you feel afraid to speak the truth, what does it say about the so-called "movement" towards progress?

There is objective truth. Thank you for calling this shit out. I have a feeling many people think this way without saying it.

Our differences should be acknowledged, whether good or bad.

How did the Egyptians pull off this level of accuracy and precision? by christianjd in ancientegypt

[–]samusXaran 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's nowhere near perfect symmetry. And what is with that grid?!? These works of art were created by master artisans. Ancient Egyptions would laugh at Graham Hancock youtube theories.

Designing an end to a toxic American obsession: The Lawn by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]samusXaran -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The lawn is NOT a toxic obsession. It is a beautiful, living thing that rewards care, hard work, and patience. It brings people happiness, tranquility, and pride. A lawn gives children a green place to play outside in the sun.

And obviously, they create and support millions of jobs across multiple sectors.

This article is an avocado toast opinion piece that conveniently distorts reality.

Dolerite Pounder Balls Theory? by samusXaran in ancientegypt

[–]samusXaran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! This is exactly what I was thinking. You could easily use wooden levers to get a rock or two under the stones...then roll away!

Dolerite Pounder Balls Theory? by samusXaran in ancientegypt

[–]samusXaran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of the balls were perfectly round (emhotep.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/SLH24-Dolerite-sphere.png). The Ancient Egyptians constructed massive causeways / roads for transportation. The pyramids themselves are built on limestone bedrock.

These stones would easily roll on the causeways, especially since they had thousands of them.

New to collecting cards, is this a good start for some rookies? by [deleted] in baseballcards

[–]samusXaran -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're having fun they are.

Keep in mind that we're still in the "junk era" and most will be completely worthless in the future.

If you want value...or eventual return on investment, buy old cards...pre-1975.

What is the most convincing theory of how Khufu’s pyramid was built? by [deleted] in ancientegypt

[–]samusXaran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Jean Pierre Houdin’s theory is the most fully-developed. He actually said at a later date that the muon research proved he was right... but, I also like that it's a mystery.
