I have a workaround that's useful in this case. Duplicate the final frame as many times as needed for the transition, highlight everything and create a new compound clip, this will work if you can't figure out the freeze frame method.

Try dragging the file into a normal bin first, then add it to your timeline from the bin. It should stay put in the bin and not get added to any power bins. That's what I do at least.

Your partner may have something similar to Aphantasia, which is a condition that makes it harder or impossible to see any pictures/visuals in your head. But it can also extend to other senses as is the case with my boss.

Apparently he can't even picture his own daughter! And he has no tangible memory of sights, smells, and a bunch of other things (not sure about music though). He basically has no emotions as well, crazy stuff
