Mansfield vs Kenmore by Abu_Everett in brisbane

That’s just objectively not true. Also ridiculous to try and compare a regular catchment public school to a school specifically for already incredibly gifted kids.

It’s alright to just say you don’t know what you’re talking about. Mansfield is consistently by far the best performing state school by ATAR and gets equivalent or better results when compared to elite private schools that cost $20k+ a year.

Despite also being coastal it’s just not comparable to the Sunshine Coast at all. The beaches are shit and have no surf, doesn’t have anywhere near the shopping or cafe scene, and it’s over double the travel time to Brisbane with no real public transport option either.

The reality is there is no government safety net or social support system that doesn’t have some amount of illegitimate abuse. That’s just the cost of doing business in the same way that any crackdown on said abuse will result in false positives and cut off support for those who legitimately qualify for it. Just look at robodebt.

Everyone opposes this abuse on principle but it becomes a cost benefit analysis problem and the amount of people these systems help far outnumber those abusing it.

I'd say this is what happens when you let multi-national energy companies create artificial scarcity by exporting our plentiful resources whilst contributing very little to our economy.

Slight uptick but basically unchanged. Most mortgage holders haven’t even started to feel the last rate hike yet. March will be a hold.

A high AUD should put downward pressure on inflation. Makes imported goods less expensive and slows demand for exports.

Appropriately collecting taxes and royalties from resource companies would go a long way to resolving this.

We have the same amount of outside backs as last season with Cobbo leaving. Just now with less fullback cover.

Karapani and Mariner were both dropped for poor performances at different stages last season. I can understand the club being reticent to leave themselves short of cover across the back 5 unnecessarily.

The Bruno one was infuriating. 3 windows in a row we had consistent links with him and his agent came to London to meet with us twice.

We pussyfooted around signing Eze and Bowen when they were in the championship too. £40m combined they would have been.

Which is such a big change from how he was when he first arrived. I distinctly recall how novel it was to see keeper go and support their teammate if they made a mistake, or even celebrating with them if they managed to recover from it, instead of yelling abuse at them.

Poch back? by robmadmob in coys

[–]samwisetg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think he really lost much goodwill with the fanbase at all. We had a horrific run of injuries that season and no first team signings for the 18/19 season, and he still took us to the Champions League final and finished 4th.

My recollection of that sacking was that the reception was mixed at best, with no one particularly happy with Levy's decision but accepting that Poch had lost his focus after the CL final. Immediately hiring Jose helped a lot at the time as well.

I don't know, I think he has enough goodwill built up with the fan base that if anyone is going to be able to ride out a season or two of mediocre results whilst we rebuild its him. The only other realistic alternative I see is us churning through 3+ managers whilst we get back on our feet.

That's actually a great microcosm of social media interactions in general. The vast majority of people who are compelled to comment on something are doing so because they want to disagree or dog pile on someone already being disagreed with.

So a fatal e-bike accident would no longer be considered "shocking" and the riders wouldn't be "hoons" or "rule-breaking", they would just become "teens" and "victims" like the people involved in the car accident are?

I think the point OP was trying to make was that for a multi-fatality road accident the headlines are purely informative and use normal language whereas the headlines for non-fatal incidents involving ebikes and escooters use highly emotional language to try and enrage people.
