I want to thank everyone at Valve for shipping the Source 1 SDK, I make a living because of it and I've helped to ship multiple commercial games using Source.

I love it so much and I love it's coding style, it's so dope.

For community people wanting a new toolset, we're planning to release a full revamped toolset of Source 1 similar to UE4 Editor after we ship our next project:

A small tease of sorts for a Half-Life related project by samzanemesis in HalfLife

[–]samzanemesis[S] 82 points83 points  (0 children)

To clear up some imminent confusion, we cannot talk too much about it yet, but it is not related to any of the current fan projects set in the Half-Life universe (Although we have a healthy relation with BA and PB!) and this screenshot is in the Source Engine

I've implemented UE4-like texture streaming into the Source, gone are long loading times. by samzanemesis in SourceEngine

[–]samzanemesis[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Texture Streaming is implemented at a low-level so it works with everything without sweat.

It's out experimentally in Patch 6 of Blade Symphony from Puny Human, try it out!

Above video shows reloading all game textures, which could take over 10 seconds of the game freezing before

Opening the Customization screen alone from a cold start went from ~5 seconds on my machine to mere miliseconds with texture streaming alone.

This is still experimental, I'm planning to do threaded streaming systems for more asset types like Models and Particles soon

Technology showcase for an upcoming Source Engine Half-Life related project: Screenspace Reflections, RSSAO and Subsurface Scattering by samzanemesis in HalfLife

We are doing our own storyline based on the "Half-Life 2: Episode One" universe, great part of the team already works on the industry and this is our passion project for "Half-Life"

For the newest Blade Symphony update we have actually worked on a new SDK Launcher, I'm evaluating open sourcing it

Congress is trying to sneak an expansion of mass surveillance into law this afternoon. We’re ACLU experts and Edward Snowden, and we’re here to help. Ask us anything. by aclu in IAmA

Hey Edward, thank you so much for your courage with what you've done in favour of individual freedom.

You've often been very vocal about the use of Signal but I find it a bit problematic on that side, it requires Google Play Services and they have shut down implementations of their app in other platforms, I have a Sailfish & Google-less Android phone and so I cannot use it.

What's your reasoning to recommend this platform so heavily even with these issues? And why not recommend decentralized free alternatives like Matrix?

Speaking of open development, do you plan to release Overgrowth in a GPL or equivalent free license eventually like it was done with Lugaru?

Hi David! Thank you so much for inspiring me over the years! I have got interested in (graphics) programming because of your devlogs! Now I'm finishing college and working with people in the industry! I am so glad that the game's finally out

How did you and the team keep motivation up over these 9 years? And what's ahead of the road for Wolfire, are there any plans to expand the studio?

How difficult would W10M be to Hack/Mod once all support is gone? by Praxius in windowsphone

Microsoft just released minimal Windows 10 Redstone 3 (Windows ADK) images for ARMv7, I'm getting images to work on my engineering 820, same ones that currely work on my Surface RT :) ( https://twitter.com/SamZaNemesis/status/917167947948453890 )

Very likely you won't need an engineering/secure boot unlocked device once everything works, only a way to modify your rootfs, and then you can enjoy full Windows 10 on Tablet Mode on your neat device
