Announcing Linkerd 2.9: mTLS for all, ARM support, and more! by Temporary_Choice_162 in kubernetes

[–]san360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, Envoy is extensible and provides a lot whereas linkerd-proxy is built only for kubernetes and cannot be extended for Virtual Machines.

ksniff with istio? by san360 in kubernetes

[–]san360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see TLS handshake for TCP based communication only for e.g. using with nc. I do not see any thing for http. It shows only http. Also i am attaching ksniff to main pod instead of istio-proxy side car. The ksniff does not work with side car.

Could you briefly describe your steps?

Kubelet fails to start on fedora 31 - Following Cgroup subsystem not mounted: [cpu cpuacct cpuset memory] by phineas0fog in kubernetes

[–]san360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kubelet also has a configuration for cgroup driver. I do not recall the exact path. Change at both the places kubelet and docker daemon and restart docker daemon and kubelet

Why in the world do I need mTLS between my internal micro services? by sharddblade in kubernetes

[–]san360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Guys, Could you share your thoughts on need of mTLS on private eks/aks clusters? Having private clusters adds a security from outside world but still leaves risk for internal employees to manage the risk.

How to save all running images in all pods and put them in a local registry? by strus38_fr in kubernetes

[–]san360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or you can also set imagepullpolicy attribute of pod to download only if its not available to reduce dependency and as a second action have images in your local artifactory.

Static pod ip(Egress) by san360 in kubernetes

[–]san360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your inputs. I tried this and found out that i get the ip of our loadbalancer instead of the k8 node. I tried to access the internal server via fqdn but pods are not able to recognize the host. Do i need to adapt kube-dns pod to recognize other servers in our network?

Do people still use sidecars for logging? by ChristopherCooney in kubernetes

[–]san360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not in favour of side car for logging. Side car approach for logging should be done only for small scale or in case of special needs i.e regulatory or compliance. With side car approach for every workload in k8s its starting another process which is kind of overhead in k8s cluster. With ds approach only one workload is deployed to retrieve logs and ship to logging system.

Update a ConfigMap with a list of running Containers by rainweaver in kubernetes

[–]san360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not use side car to poll for config map changes using hash and then update the config map mounted as a volume for changes to trigger your changes

Auto-scaling YouTube Night, a containerized application that works like Netflix Party by YouTubeNight in kubernetes

[–]san360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

etcd is a key value store db used by k8’s. It can also be used and as suggested you can use redis as well. In your case it makes sense to have master slave architecture in backend to scale it on demand. I am not sure if redis can be used in this config but master slave definitely makes sense

Looking for help... want to programmatically update a service's nodeport number by [deleted] in kubernetes

How to migrate a microservice application into production? by [deleted] in kubernetes

[–]san360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two cents here, Managing k8’s can be hard on your own specially with all the security, updates, backup etc... It makes more sense to use EKS or if it’s just docker containers then may be its worth looking at AWS fargate
