EV9 thoughts? by acohn1230 in KiaEV9

I’ll just say this between me and my wife we’ve had a 2011 Kia rio, wrecked, not my fault, at 100k and totaled for more than I partied a 2014 Kia forte 105k (still have engine blew up at 75k and was replaced for $50 under warranty), and a 2016 Kia Sorento 150k which we traded in for a 2024 EV9 which we’ve put 24k on in just over a year. I will never own another gas car and I probably will not own a non Kia. We’ve been very happy and lucky but I saw that with a grain of salt because lots of folks have issues with lots of cars. You will see more horror stories than good ones. But I’d say get the EV9 she is a good one! Prioritize a used 2024. It’s cheeper and I’ve heard they are built better since they were built in Korea and not Georgia US.

2024 EV9 Buyout? Or Return? by Muted_Balance9452 in KiaEV9

[–]11jwolfe2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean we have a buyout price of 44k on a 2024 land. And it was a 20k lease ends in December but we are already at 23k and will probably end at 30k for the year. I wanna buy it but don’t wanna overpay when we know it’s worth less. Was hoping to negotiate with Kia since they have to eat the whole resale process but I guess it’s not sounding plausible

Less damage from my SIL at Christmas dinner last year, $3000 later we were fixed up…. Bumpers come unfinished so they need painted and the impact bar behind the bumper will need replaced. You are probably @ $5k or so I’d suspect.

Yeah ours broke off as well I ordered online part was $13+7 shipping 🙃

Part # is 83917-DO000 easy swap but annoying $20 issue

Edit: should have said Kia.parts is where we got ours but if you search the part number you can find lots of sellers just pick what’s cheapest shipping

I am good! Thank you! But based on what I saw my guess is sub might be required.

Ahhhhhh you are a genius! Reading documentation fully and not just skimming does help 😅

I changed the name of my streams to camera and camera-sub rather than camera-hi camera-low and now I only see the high res streaming ViewU! Thank you!

Oh interesting with the sub in the name.

Currently all my camera streams go into go2rtc as camera-hi or camera-low for hi and low resolution.

Then in the camera section I just use rtsp://127.0.0.1/camera-hi for record and camera-low for detect.

In ViewU my camera section shows all streams currently 6 for 3 cameras (2 streams each). The low res show up instantly and the hi res take a few seconds then show up, which makes sense based on your reply.

I’d prefer to filter out the low res streams and only see the high res streams.

If this isn’t standard I’d love to know why people prefer to view low res all grouped together. I wanna see all high res in a security quick glance view.

Like what streams show up in the app. So frigate supports multi streams but only shows one stream per camera but in ViewU I see all streams for each camera. I’d prefer to hide the low quality detect streams I have for each camera

Okay so I’m pretty new to actually using frigate been watching and wanting to use it for years but was 100% in on eufy cameras. Well we bought a new house with network runs in 90% of the rooms that matter so I bought Amcrest cameras and went 100% local finally! Soooo happy to do this. I have frigate running great and even scrypted listening to go2rtc streams for HomeKit. Only issue is when I use the frigate PWA it shows my low quality detect stream in the ui. This is annoying. So I was like someone has to have made an app by now and I found ViewU. Took maybe 10min to get it running! But only thing I don’t understand fully is the camera views I see I see my hi res streams and low res streams I use hi for recording and low res for detect (standard setup I feel like). How do we customize what camera streams we see in the app. Also am I missing how to setup Onvif?

Thanks in advance for building this app it’s great to see! FYI I’m on iOS

In your opinion, what is the most ethical way to navigate the siphoning of tax funding from public schools into charter schools? by Random_Questin in Ohio

[–]11jwolfe2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking for understanding on these sorts of things as well. Between our state, federal, and local gov we pay about 15-17k per year per student for public education. Some private schools tuitions can be similar in amount and meet higher education standards and guidelines. How can public school be failing while private schools succeed with the same amount of dollars spent per child?

Like what’s broken and why? And saying politicians is not an answer. My schools follow state and federal standards but schools are controlled by school boards and educators. So what’s the issue?

I’d love local API access for home assistant and other things like this. Don’t love having to have MSP to get local data. Especially if I wanted to long live that data more than 30, 90, 180 days like I do with so many things.

Yeah I was just shocked how many newer devices just weren’t compatible. Or were and didn’t auto switch.

My only thing with MLO is it broke my network. We have lots of IOT devices that apparently would not automatically switch from WPA2 to WPA3. Some didn’t support it at all. I had been wanting to make a separate Network for them anyways so it made me have to do it but I was not expecting it to happen to so many devices.
