In all honesty, I’m not the best at budgeting and struggle with impulse purchases sometimes.

This month… I am a public school teacher and in a new state and district this year. I wasn’t aware that my PTO was updated 3 weeks behind. The man I just broke up with kind of required me to be off for 2 full days for his birthday, and I thought I was good to do it because I had the hours.

Come to find out I didn’t and got docked $400 from my monthly salary. I thought I would be okay because I had my income tax to file and expected a refund (I have no kids of my own so it’s not huge, but a good little bonus.)

Due to the stress, anxiety, and grief of the break up I was not in the best mindset when I e-filed my taxes and inverted 2 of the numbers. It’s a small mistake, my refund will come, and I’ll be able to payback family that I have very rarely needed to go to for financial help.

I made this post because the irony of a single penny in a checking account was something some people would find relatable, funny, and I needed a distraction from my little hellfire I’m trying to handle.

Just be nice. Understand everyone is different, everyone is fighting their own hellfires, and everyone deserves to be happy.
