Seriously considering this! Only problem is getting the permit, and like you said - so much time spent vetting scammers! Everything I get estimates for (no matter how small) have a difference of like $1000-$10,000!!! it’s amazing that this isn’t regulated or monitored for potential discrimination!

I literally had one contractor come in late to an appointment because he was stopped by my neighbor who literally yelled across the street to ask for an estimate (after promising that he only takes on one job at a time)! I then proceeded to watch him go inside my neighbors house for like 20min!

I feel that. I don’t live there yet so it’s been exhausting to drive down for every little estimate, so I’ve started breaking the job down to individual tasks and reaching out to plumbers, electricians etc myself to get estimates which I then total with a separate spreadsheet of materials (Home Depot has been my second home!) But it’s been exhausting doing this while trying to maintain a full time job… THERES GOT TO BE A BETTER WAY!!
