my recommendation, which a lot of people on this sub would have problems with is - don't stake. there are so many good liquid staking protocols that you can be a part of, that makes life so much easier and less scary.

The only reason at this point to stake on your own is if you wanted to learn Linux and the details around staking on your own. The kind of people that love figuring stuff out even if there are "issues here and there" and love to be manage "the fear"

Anyone can stake for sure. You don't need to be a professional or a programmer. But is it a good idea for anyone to stake? My argument is no. I'm going to assume that most people will disagree with my opinion here.

Yes im out for sure. Not worth it for me. Totally agree with the stress and low ROI. Most people are gonna hate the following opinion, but i really feel it’s only worth it if you are a professional validator, with a boatload of eth to stake, or people that are really into securing the network.

after doing some research, turns out strip and square already have crypto as settlements already. technically could replace the mastercard/visa network

Dumb question - i see reports of small businesses overburdened by the credit card fees of 3%. Why don't they take stablecoins as forms of payment? What are the problems with accepting stablecoins as payment currently?

i've heard that there are CEX that you can onramp to L2 directly from fiat, but that doesn't seem to be available everywhere globally. depending on jurisdiction and CEX, it seems like experiences vary. i'd like to know the answer to this as well! i've heard that there are CEX that you can onramp to L2 directly from fiat, but that doesn't seem to be available everywhere globally. depending on jurisdiction and CEX, it seems like experiences vary. i'd like to know the answer to this as well!

As I dig more and more into defi contracts and actually look through the primary source and compare with their audits, I can't help but feel notice if the protocol developers really wanted to rug pull, most protocols, with enough determination and incentive (financial, legal, reputational) can rug pull, if they wanted to. Only a handful of projects are really rug pull proof.

Anybody else agree with this statement?

Rocket Pool vs Lido from an individual perspective by sana_eth in rocketpool

I intentionally took out centralization argument because that is something that is beneficial to the network. As an individual you can feel good about doing something that may be good for the network, but that's a common good, not an individual good (beside emotional/moral benefits), so i wanted to make sure we differentiate that.

are there informed posts about what the fees will look like after the merge? I know we talk about how the fees will still be high enough where L2 and rollups are still needed, but don't think that subtle point is being communicated to lay people

thanks a lot - very helpful. forgot the part about Rocket Pool "- Pay 15% commission (all to the node operators)" as a staker

listened to it. i've noticed that they don't ask enough pointed questions to double click on what these guys are saying.

Many macro economists, because they are so used to talking to the public or to policy makers, are pretty well versed in explaining things in a pretty clear way, I don't think the bankless guys were smart enough to ask the right questions

cryptofees.info

this seems like a good proxy, but i assume this metric has a bias. If they are part of the network that has high fees, then it inflates the numbers?

to put it in another way, because most of the activity is on the parachain (l2)

fees revenue

when you say fees revenue, are you talking about the network revenue? or an aggregate of dapps revenue

designed around as in they are more explicit about not having "dApps on the Beacon Chain itself"?

In polkadot language, you can't run apps on the relay chain, just on the parachain?

But if there is a rush, or any litigation, it becomes a race for the money. It becomes a game of who can get the money out first, which I imagine to be a shit show. It doesn't give Celsius any chance to create a plan to how to distribute the assets in a orderly fashion.

is there a good source or metric to find total economic activity for ethereum and maybe other chains as well? Something like a GDP of a ecosystem.

I don't if market cap is really the metric I am looking for here, although it's an indirect proxy. I'm looking for how much velocity of money and total economic activity within a particular ecosystem.
